🌟 Understanding Polytrauma: Why Customized Care Models Are Non-Negotiable for Veterans and Service Members 🌟 The term "polytrauma" may not be familiar to everyone, but for Veterans and Service Members, it's an all-too-real and complex challenge that demands specialized attention. 🚑 What is Polytrauma? 🚑 Polytrauma occurs when an individual experiences injuries to multiple body parts and organ systems, often due to blast-related events. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) frequently accompanies other conditions such as amputations, burns, spinal cord injuries, auditory and visual damage, and PTSD. 🎯 The Complexity of Polytrauma 🎯 Due to the severity and intricate nature of their injuries, Veterans and Service Members with polytrauma require an elevated level of integrated, coordinated clinical care and support services. And it's not just about physical healing; it's about addressing the multitude of ways these injuries impact a person's life. 🛡 Advances in Care 🛡 Thankfully, significant advances in protective gear and medical technology have improved survival rates for those sustaining severe multiple injuries. Training up the future of Effective #lowbackpain Rehabilitation with Functional Movement Therapy. I delivered a seminar to physiotherapists last week who informed me 70-80% of their work load was related to LBP. Not one member of the audience had any formal training in Movement Theory or Practice. If Functional Movement Therapy is not a part of your management strategy for LBP then you're not helping to resolve the current epidemic and leading cause of disability world wide, which is the CAUSE of the "opioid crisis".
