Do yourself a favor and read through this content, familiarize yourself with the mission of this incredible company and their commitment to changing our world for the better. Maybe think about making a conscious effort, even if just a few times a month, to swap your typical red meat consumption with a plant-based meat product. I've seen firsthand how committed Beyond is to advancing solutions across four global problems - human health, climate change, natural resource conservation and animal welfare. This work is more critical now than ever before. With folks like Ethan Brown, Shira Zackai, Allison Trager and Akerho Oghoghomeh leading the charge, I have no doubt the future is BEYOND bright. We also look forward to understanding in the coming years, how a plant-based diet and plant-based meat alternatives can contribute to cancer prevention. Exciting things to come.

Our recently launched ESG feed risk assessment tool, developed in collaboration with World Wildlife Fund (WWF), addresses a key challenge in agricultural sustainability: the current lack of transparency in feed supply chains.   By fostering greater transparency, this tool helps companies identify and mitigate possible ESG risks, leading to more ethical and environmentally friendly practices. This represents a significant advancement in responsible sourcing within the animal feed industry, serving as a blueprint for other animal protein sectors to follow. Thanks to the team at Farmers for Climate Action for sharing this link in light of National Reconciliation week. Farmers for Climate Action started when about 10 farmers signed a public petition seeking acknowledgment of climate change impacting our farms almost 10 years ago, now telling much the same stories and successes we set out to do with the initial Farmer Letter. Here’s to those that saw the change and acted boldly. We’re pleased to announce our latest research is now available to be viewed online. In this innovative study, funded by Eurogroup for Animals, the HBCL team presents the business case for transporting carcasses instead of live animals from the European Union (EU) to Third Countries. Using advanced modelling, case studies and evidence-based approaches, this ground-breaking research revealed a compelling finding: exporting live animals was nearly 2.5 times more costly, and had nearly six times the CO2 emissions (CO2e) per kilo than transporting carcasses. “As we navigate a changing world and the challenges of creating a sustainable food system for a growing population, these insights shine a light on a path that harmonises economic progress with environmental and ethical considerations. Namely, transitioning from a trade in live animals for slaughter to that of carcasses is better for people, animals and the planet” said Jo White, HBCL Co-Director. Sheep struggle in the heat and our climate is changing so we need to adapt with it. Working with the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and FOCUS GENETICS LIMITED PARTNERSHIP, we're looking at how we can create sheep with finer wool (or none at all), a greater tolerance for hot weather and lower methane emissions. What does that mean? Sheep that shed their wool in spring – no need for shearing, crutching or tail docking! As well as increased animal welfare and disease tolerance.
