Displaying their finest performance to date, each player demonstrated remarkable improvement since their initial games, showcasing the true spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork. Despite the challenge of being three separate teams that only unite on game days, these young stars have transcended boundaries to form lasting partnerships and friendships. Their dedication and camaraderie were evident from the very first puck drop to the final whistle, a testament to their growing synergy and mutual support. Adding an exciting twist to the day, we equipped our players with GoPros, capturing the action from their unique perspectives. The footage promises to offer an intimate glimpse into the game, allowing us to relive the moments through the eyes of our players. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the parents who have been the backbone of this journey, ensuring their children could participate and thrive. Breakout success of the 16-year-old is being felt at grassroots level and can shift outdated perceptions of the sport. Aaron Bower | Sunday 7 Jan 2024: On Monday evening, the doors to the Sidac social club in St Helens will be opened by Karl Holden, as they are every week so the St Helens Darts Academy can take place. But this week, and every week from now on, there may be a slight logistical issue thanks to the academy’s most famous graduate. “We have over 90 kids coming into the academy every Monday night, we’re pretty much full as it is,” Holden says. “But during the world championship, I reckon I’ve had at least 20 or 30 kids come into my shop telling me they want to sign up and play.” The reason why? “All they talk about is how they want to be the next Luke Littler.” The most famous 16-year-old in sport has dominated the headlines with his extraordinary run to the final of the PDC World Darts Championship. With the tournament over, attention is turning to how Littler will fare in his first full season as a professional and how his exploits could have a seismic impact for a sport that has battled for mainstream attention since its initial boom period of the 1980s. Community facilities are not just spaces - they are the vibrant heartbeats of our neighborhoods, nurturing much more than just physical health and fitness. These spaces are where children learn invaluable life lessons - resilience, teamwork, the importance of hard work, and the realities of both winning and losing. This, in turn has immense benefits for future generations of our communities. Being a part of a sporting community goes far beyond the physical activities. It lays the foundation for a lifetime of benefits, from improved health and fitness to building extensive networks and fostering strong mental health. I would be very interested to see a long term cost analysis of providing and maintaining community sporting facilities against the long term savings on our medical system and criminal justice system. I understand that Basketball is one of the fastest growing sports in WA and is also an inclusive sport. In this way, I recognize the significance of community facilities in contributing to shaping well-rounded individuals and fostering a sense of belonging and togetherness in our communities. Investing in these spaces means investing in the future of our society.

FSG's boss is #billionaire John Henry. The new company gives investors "a minority share in a new #PGA company and allows #pro #golfers to hold ownership stakes," Forbes writes. It also provides some stability for the #golf group, which had hit some rough seas in its battle with LIV Golf, owned by the #Saudi #sovereignwealth fund. July saw a "shocking" move [according to The Associated Press item on it] wherein PGA Tour, LIV Golf and the European Tour combined their commercial businesses. The actual PGA Tour deal is with The Strategic Sports Group, a consortium of #sports property owners. Ahead of the World Darts Championship this evening, Spider, Chairman, Sara Pearson, shares her thoughts on how organisations can handle a 'positive crisis'. DARTS – SUDDENLY FACING A ‘POSITIVE’ CRISIS! Luke the ‘nuke’ the 16-year-old wunderkind who is on the brink of being champion of the world of darts, must be/should be causing the powers behind the sport some serious consternation today. How do you harness this wholly unexpected phenomenon and use it to benefit the future of darts? Of course, one would like to think the governing body has already invested in preparing a five-year plan with a clear pathway for growth of the sport. A plan which includes more inclusivity, less stereotypical early middle-age white men, not always looking their fittest. Or perhaps it has the ambition of getting darts on the Olympic roster – well why not? It’s not only about the spotlight on the sport, but how does the World Darts Federation plan to assist in helping manage the feeding frenzy of likely sponsors that will descend on the ‘nuke’ if he wins? No one wants to see a situation where he finds himself like big lottery winners floundering with the fame and fortune that comes his way. I am sure he has a good manager but is he or she experienced in coping with the level of attention which will land as early as tomorrow? I may be wrong on all the above but this is a perfect example of why positive planning is so vital in any organisation. Many of us will plan for the case of a crisis, but we also must be prepared to maximise positive opportunities that come out of the blue – and have a strategy in place to keep the momentum rolling long after the tournament has come to an end. The NCAA’s recently completed championships bidding process saw 293 different organizations (!!!!) #sportstourism #sportstravel submit bids to host at least one of the organization’s 88 championships that are available for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 academic years. A total of 1,093 bids (555 for 2027 and 538 for 2028) were submitted by schools, sports commissions, municipalities and other organizations, according to data provided to SBJ by the NCAA. The bidders came from 47 states and D.C. The two-year cycle of bidding was adjusted from what had been a four-year window, when more than 450 preliminary and final host sites were awarded for the 2022-23 through 2025-26 academic years.
