Am I a failure? Have you ever found yourself questioning your worth during a tough phase? That’s exactly where I am right now. Back in Pakistan, my life was pretty amazing. I had a well-established career in marketing, PR, and communications. But I left all that behind to pursue an MBA in Istanbul, hoping to learn new things and grow further. I was convinced that I’d quickly land my dream corporate job and, on the side, fulfill my dream of working in a cozy coffee shop—something I couldn’t do back home. The idea of serving coffee, connecting with people, and making them happy always excites me. But reality hit hard. For someone who’d never really struggled, Istanbul was a harsh wake-up call. Did I find jobs? Yes. But the ones I wanted? No. The corporate world seemed just out of reach, and the coffee shop dream? Still just a dream, primarily because English isn’t the main language here. Building a network from scratch is not that easy if there is a language barrier. Facing tough times for the first time, especially in your 30s, is hard. You start to question your choices and doubt your abilities. Every minor disappointment chips away at your confidence. Most people share their struggle stories after overcoming their challenges. I used to think how courageous it would be for someone to share their struggle without knowing where life would take them. So here I am, sharing mine while I am still finding my ground. A part of me thinks I should switch from IT to the hospitality sector. But the hospitality industry isn’t very hospitable to those without hospitality experience. Some days are excruciating. My brain forgets how talented I am and tells me that I’m not capable enough to get what I want. But then my heart reminds me of the immense courage it took to leave an established career and start anew. Don’t you agree? This picture was taken when I was smiling and shining, after giving my awesome report presentation on consumer psychology—a topic very close to my heart. I will try to post regularly, sharing my setbacks, struggles, career-related disappointments, and more. Just a girl being honest about her journey because she knows she is not alone. Here’s to the not-so-good days and the ongoing professional life struggle. Here’s to the days when we’re not winning or shining, but still trying. 🎖️ #StruggleJourney #CareerTransition #hospitalitysector #failures #NeverGiveUp #Personalgrowth #MBA #Istanbul #Marketing #Jobs #JobSearch #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerAdvice #consumerpsychology

thats a brave heart move by you in your 30's when noone dare to switch from a well settled career path to a challenging one for the self satisfaction. Because i know you from university so i believe you can revert back to the challenges with a strong mindset. For now you are disappointed but its part of life and it helps to give us a reality check. Secondly, always bear in mind that whenever you are starting a new chapter in your life, it will take some time. As per my experience it takes not less than 2 years of hardships. Every new day is coming to challenge you and you have to learn from it. In your previous chapter of life in Pakistan, you were mentoring people and a mentor like you sometimes also needs some motivation - after all we are all human. You are a motivations for many keep that in mind. Thirdly, being a Muslim some motivation from Quran : "And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives " [Al-Najam : 39] "Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity" [Al-Baqara : 286] You are just at the verge of some good transformation i believe.Keep going on and give it some time. THIS TOO SHALL PASS :) Looking forward to see you growing and shining like ever before.

It is never easy to take a path that is unknown to you, but you are far more courageous and brave than that. Yes, it takes time to build from scratch, but with your talent you can conquer the hurdles that will be there. Wishing you for the best on whatever route you take. Keep inspiring and sharing your journey. Have been missing your posts quite a lot. Looking forward to see them regularly now. 😍

Your story reminded me of one of the same recent past situation where I was unwillingly getting pushed anyway if you have taken it by yourself, be sticked to your instigators thinking why you started. Good luck :)

I think it happens in life of every one to feel helpless and clueless certain times. But keep trying not to loose focus and hope is the key to overcome.
