Co-founder and CEO at NYXL

Seven years of running esports teams came to a close with the sale of our Call of Duty League team last week. We did so much with the NYXL team brands, from sell out events in front of thousands to industry first brand partnerships, countless tournament wins and a world championship. We're moving the business a direction I'm excited to share more about in the coming months, working with major stakeholders in our industry to help drive esports forward, including Cloud9 Esports, Inc. who is taking over our CDL team. But it's certainly not easy moving on from something we put our heart into for so long. Will miss being in the trenches for sure. https://lnkd.in/et9bfTFa

Cofounder

In 2017, we took a leap into the world of esports with a dream: to bring competitive gaming to New York. When @CallofDuty franchised, of course, we had to own the NY franchise and jumped at the opportunity. The Call of Duty League launched in February 2020, and just one month later, COVID-19 changed everything. Launching a brand new product built around in-person events right into a pandemic was incredibly hard. We faced many stumbling blocks, but in those challenging times, we saw glimmers of what it could have been. We were fortunate to host a major at Kings Theater and celebrate multiple major wins, including a championship. Today, we're announcing that our Call of Duty team will be joining Cloud9 Esports, Inc.. This now marks the end of an era of us running teams in NY. We're not leaving esports entirely; we're just shifting our focus. In the coming months, we’ll share more about our exciting ventures that supports esports community overall. To our incredible community in New York and beyond, thank you. Your support has been the heartbeat of our journey. This is not goodbye, but a heartfelt thank you as we look forward to what's next. #standclear #nyxl
