[1st SME UI SC Training Session: Manufacturing Processes] A few weeks ago i attended a training session conducted by the SME UI SC, it was incredibly enlightening, providing a deep dive into the operations at the Karawang plant facility and the Toyota Production System. A heartfelt thanks to SME UI SC and PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia, and a special mention to Pak Aji Sambodo, Department Head of Assembly Production and PIO at Karawang Plant, PT TMMIN, for sharing his valuable insights. One major takeaway was the concept of Kaizen, which promotes continuous improvement. I'm particularly fascinated by how Kaizen encourages ongoing, incremental enhancements, which align seamlessly with Industry 4.0 principles and the Toyota Production System, including 5S, Just-In-Time, and Jidoka methodologies. To integrate Kaizen into my life, I plan to: 1. Identify Small Changes: Find small, actionable changes in my daily routine to boost efficiency and reduce waste. 2. Seek Feedback: Regularly gather feedback from peers and mentors to pinpoint areas for improvement. 3. Measure Progress: Track the impact of these changes using metrics to ensure they are driving me toward my goals. 4. Reflect and Adjust: Continuously assess what’s working and what isn’t, and be willing to adjust my approach as needed. Although regrettably I was unable to attend SME UI SC's training session with Mr. Aji Sambodo, Department Head of assembly Production and PIO Karawang Plant at PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia, I am doing my best to catch up to the knowledge that I missed, from reading the pre-read power point presentation, I have gained novel insights regarding the manufacturing process of Toyota Motors, although my understanding is far less than of those who attended the session. Allow me to share a little bit of what I have learned, the most intriguing part to me is the Just In Time System, I find it fascinating how manufacturing companies cut costs of maintenance and overall production cost, through manufacturing products only according to orders that have been placed, to further prevent unpurchased products and resulting in waste/higher maintenance cost . Not only that, the topic that caught my attention is Kaizen, I honestly have heard of this concept, but I never truly realized the implications of it in the manufacturing field. It's amazing how so little change can largely affect productivity, work quality, and overall efficiency. With this in mind, I will personally strive for constant improvements how little it may be, no matter how little the win, I will constantly try to keep winning. Whether it be doing something as little as moving my phone away from my sight to increase productivity or, reducing screen time increase sleep quality, I will do it all consistently. #SMEUISC #ManufacturingChange

Lean Six Sigma 101 I learned about t-test and F-test when I was in university. It was part of a compulsory subject called Industrial Metrology. I knew how to do the calculations and knowledgeable enough to get an A for the subject but I didn’t really know how to apply these two tests in real life. It was only after I started working that I understood the importance, how to use them and how the tests helped me in making decisions. So how do we use these tests in real life? t-test: A manager decided to conduct a training program for all his employees with the aim of increasing their productivity levels. He measured the productivity levels before and after the training program. He then uses t-test to see if the productivity levels are the same or have improved after the training. F-test: A scientist conducts tests of a vaccine candidate on 5 groups of people. He uses F-test to find out if the variances of the vaccine efficacy on those 5 groups are the same or not. 📍📍📍 I’m excited to be in Surabaya (Indonesia) this week to conduct a workshop on Lean Six Sigma.
