Paris-Based VC Breega Secures 70% of Target for New Fund to Back Pre-Seed And Seed Startups Paris-based venture capital firm Breega has successfully achieved the first close of its latest fund, securing roughly 70% of its targeted USD 75 million. Since entering the VC arena in 2015, Breega has raised four funds: an initial seed fund of EUR 45 million, a second seed fund of EUR 110 million, a first venture fund of EUR 106 million, and a second venture fund of EUR 250 million. Launched in 2019, Oui Capital, an early-stage venture capital fund has backed 21 African startups at the pre-seed and seed stages. Some of its portfolio companies are Duplo, Moniepoint, Akiba Digital, Herconomy and PharmacyMart. Oui Capital, which funds approximately 2% of the companies that apply to it, invests between $250,000 and $500,000 and looks to own between 5% and 10% of its portfolio companies. Practica Capital, a venture capital firm rooted in Vilnius and committed to fostering the growth of Baltic startups, has announced the successful closure of its third fund, Practica Venture Capital III, amassing €80 million. The final closing of Practica Venture Capital III saw significant support from cornerstone and institutional investors, including the European Investment Fund (EIF), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), SEB Investicijų Valdymas, and (UAB „Investicijų ir verslo garantijos“ (INVEGA)), with Swedbank Investicijų Valdymas and Swedbank Investeerimisfondid acting as anchor investors. Notably, individual LPs, including co-founders of Lithuanian unicorns Vinted and Nord Security, have also contributed, showcasing broad support for the fund. It expanded to Europe in October last year by merging with Berlin-based VC La Famiglia, which manages around $360 million. The deal is slated to close in the first part of this year. General Catalyst has been investing in Europe for more than a decade. Founded in 2015, Venture Highway is an early-stage-focused VC firm that is currently raising its third fund. It had closed its second fund in January 2020 at over $78 million, just before the COVID-19 pandemic.
