Dear friends and colleagues, To date very few journals publish video articles in our field, despite this type of article being of paramount importance for sharing techniques and improving their replicability. For this reason, I have opened a Methods Collection with JoVE on “Imaging Vascular Structures and Blood Flow in Ophthalmology”: https://lnkd.in/dKe9gmTM The purpose of this collection is to present innovative methodologies for vascular and blood flow imaging in ophthalmology, highlighting the impact of this technology on enhancing diagnostic capabilities in ocular pathology. The most recent Impact Factor for JoVE (ISSN 1940-087X) is 1.424, according to the 2021 Journal Citation Reports. JoVE articles are indexed in PubMed, Web of Science, SciFinder, EMBASE, and Scopus. Authors submit a traditional text manuscript, after which JoVE handles all the video production. Happy to share my work with and under department of Anesthesia, at HMS Al Garhoud hospital, with the idea and support of Dr. SHRUTIKA PAREKH Our study highlights the benefits of using dexmedetomidine as an adjuvant in laparoscopic bariatric surgeries. This α2-adrenergic receptor agonist has shown promising results in enhancing patient recovery, reducing postoperative pain and opioid requirements, and maintaining cardiovascular stability. 🌟 Key Findings: - Significant reduction in intraoperative and postoperative complications - Improved recovery profiles and patient comfort - Decreased need for anesthetic drugs and postoperative opioids Excited to contribute to advancements in perioperative care for bariatric surgery patients. Partial Heart Transplants Grow with Their Young Recipients Children who are born with heart valve defects often undergo surgery to receive frozen valves from cadavers. Because thawed cadaver tissue is dead and doesn’t grow, however, the child must periodically have operations to get larger valves—which can lead to a poor prognosis. But in a new procedure known as a partial heart transplant, living valves and parts of blood vessels can be transplanted and grow along with a child. A range of animal models, from mice to sheep to non-human primates were used develop this approach. The use of piglets also confirmed partial heart transplant growth with various immunosuppression regimens. #animalresearch #organdonation #hearttransplant
