Rossi Companies Makes Community Impact with Donation INDIANAPOLIS - Jan. 21, 2024 - PRLog -- Indianapolis, IN 01/20/24 The Rossi Companies Inc. a premier multi service contractor based in Indianapolis made a generous donation of $50,000.00 to the Catholic Charities with the understanding that the proceeds were to be distributed for the less fortunate in both Indianapolis, and Louisville conversely for people that are homeless and needing provisions for shelter and aide during this time of extreme cold weather. We have very close ties to the Catholic Church, and feel it's both our obligation and duty to give back to communities when people are struggling just eat and find shelter, more so when temperatures have been lingering in the single digits, compounded by snowfall. With the many partnerships that we have developed over the years, we felt compelled to set a precedent as a partner that people can relate to, and are proud of as well. In the final analysis, we feel that helping our needing members in the community is both profitable and bottomline... Following the outbreaks of racist violence we have seen in many cities across the UK, I’ve been thinking about how Somerset Community Foundation should respond. First, we stand in solidarity with our colleagues in the UK Community Foundations family and their partners who are responding to these shocking events. Events in Bristol, Plymouth and Weymouth show that the West Country has not been immune, although – mercifully – Somerset has avoided the worst of the rioting. The community-led peaceful responses have been encouraging and heartening, but what we have seen is a warning that we cannot be complacent. I’ve lived here for almost 20 years, and I’m not alone in finding Somerset to be a friendly, welcoming county: a place you can build a life and raise a family. It’s a place you can belong. But, while I don’t walk in other peoples’ shoes, I’ve always understood that not everyone has the same experience as I do, not least people from ethnically diverse backgrounds, whether their families have lived here for generations or they have come to Somerset more recently. Too many of our neighbours are, at the moment, living in fear. This fear may be compounded by the fact that, in Somerset, our diverse communities are more dispersed and isolated than in many parts of the country. Every day, through the Foundation, I’m lucky to see the very best of what our communities do to make the world a better place on their doorstep. It is at times like this we see how precious, and sometime precarious, this ‘community capital’ is. The damage that has been caused cannot be reversed unless communities and the local charities that serve them are given the space and resources to take the lead. It will take time, but lasting change starts and finishes within our communities, and we’ll do everything we can here at the Foundation to walk alongside them. In Stories of Change, we shared the path of our own transformation and how we’ve shifted our practices, policies, and mindsets in order to be better partners in supporting #systemschange work. Since publishing, we've heard back from folks around the world, and we are excited to respond to what we’re hearing is needed next - help in turning inspiration into action! We continued our work with Stories of Change author Jessica Conrad to develop three new reflection and discussion guides to accompany the publication. Whether you're new to systems change or an experienced practitioner, these stories can provide new perspectives and inspiration. Each guide targets a different audience: funders, experienced systems change practitioners, and those new to systems change but curious about its potential. The guides can be used for individual reflection or, ideally, individual reflection that is then processed with a group of stakeholders committed to moving from insight to new action. Greek Week continues to make a big impact in the local community and this hyper-local storytelling should remain a focus. I think, because we’re at a world-renowned institution, we aim a lot at showing how far-reaching our footprint goes. This story is part of that too—many of those involved will go on to do great things across the world. But, right now, we’re telling a story of students building camaraderie and connecting with where they are at this point in time and with what’s closest in proximity. That doesn’t minimize their impact by any means. So, I think this also shows how important Fraternity and Sorority Life remains to the philanthropy of the area. How FSL creates leaders and constructive citizenry. If you connect those dots, you see that this article tells multiple stories beyond the surface.
