Remote learning for the Diploma of Public Safety (Firefighter management) challenging but rewarding, hopefully opening new doors and new oppurtunities in my career within the ARFFS.

What a horrible job by the investigation. The police dept failed every student, family, teacher and employee. The police dept is absolutely responsible. A clear failure of policy, procedures and training. The school shares in The failure. Your safety meetings should have addressed all the short comings before, during and after the event. The safety plans failed on many levels. When safety meetings aren't conducted properly but done to meet a mandate it fails. I would love to know who is on the safety committees, who is on the threat assessment teams, how many drills or table top exercises were completed and how often the safety plans are reviewed. School districts be aware court case after court case specifically says police departments are not responsible for school safety. Drill Train Communicate

Safety is something that must be built into your company., It takes listening as well as instruction. first you have to want to protect your people, not just lip service but got to your sites and observe. look at the equipment, let them see that you are genuine. help them identify issues that could arise, and do something about it! by devoting a few hours a week to simply talking to and personally making sure your people have what they need as well as sharing your experiences will build both a safety esprit de corps as well as a learning experience that your Employees will want to be part of.

Our first 2024 MiTime for Safety Standown was a great opportunity to engage with the Mitie Hestia and wider Defence UK team on workplace safety, covering slips trips and falls in the workplace. With Slips Trips and Falls being the leading cause of serious injury in the workplace, contributing to considerable lost time and high numbers of hospital visits, we need to continue working together to shift the frequency dial to zero. Spot it - Be vigilant to workplace hazards. Sort it - Make the hazard safe, if safe to do so. Communicate it - Inform others in the vicinity. Report it - Report the hazard, so the risk can be assessed, eliminated or minimised, and to create wider learning opportunities.
