Asking insightful questions during an interview demonstrates your engagement and interest in the role. It allows you to gather valuable information about the company culture, expectations, and challenges, while also showcasing your critical thinking skills and commitment to making informed decisions about your career path.

Today I moderated three career panel sessions for high school students interested in careers at Securian Financial. Here's what I learned about running an effective panel: 💡 Come prepared. We sent our panelists a list of questions to prepare for in advance, with names assigned to each question so everyone on the panel knew who was responsible for what. 💡 Be concise. Practice your answers enough so that you can share a brief and effective answer. Give one or two examples, then let another panelist have a turn to speak. 💡 Connect your message to your audience's interests. Our audience was high schoolers, so the panel spoke about their high school experience, and shared what they wish they would have known as a high school student. Remember that practice makes progress! What panels have been most impactful to you?

Quick story time! 📖 Had a candidate who totally aced their first interview – glowing reviews, great vibes. But, just to play it safe, we kept applying elsewhere. Welp - the firm went in a different direction, but we didn't sweat it. Within the week, we already had another interview lined up and my candidate was invited back for the full-round by the end of that same day! 🕔 Lesson learned? Don't bank everything on one opportunity! Keep exploring, keep hustling, and you never know what might come your way. So, here's to keeping those eggs in different baskets! #JobSearch #KeepExploring
