Meeting today's students where they are is a critical component for getting through to them. Knowing how to successfully run a business, deliver programs, or effectively research are all different from helping young students (all with their own backgrounds, educational challenges, and interests) in a university setting develop the skills needed to successfully start a venture. Additionally, the inner workings of universities are different than the business world, and the field of teaching entrepreneurship has shifted to an experiential model that is different than methods used just 10-15 years ago. Participants of the USASBE Entrepreneurship Lecturer Certification will gain insights into how to navigate within the academic world, and learn what students prefer with the current situation of online and hybrid learning. Hey LinkedIn family! ❤️ It's been a while since you saw a message from me, and I want to share the reason behind my brief hiatus. I've been immersed in the CEO Challenge Season 2 by Masters' Union, and let me tell you, it's been a dream event! When Season One happened, I missed out, and that regret lingered. But when Season Two was announced, I was over the moon! I told my parents, "Season Two is on, and I'm going to be a finalist!" Though I couldn't secure funding from the esteemed jury—Ankur Warikoo, & Sarthak Ahuja, and Shlok Srivastava —the journey was nothing short of incredible. This event provides students in grades 11th and 12th a unique platform to showcase their skills, validate problem statements, and experience pitching to investors. Shoutout to our amazing mentor, Shubham Singla who not only helped refine our pitch but also provided unwavering confidence. His words before my pitch resonated deeply, giving me the boost I needed on stage. Masters' Union has crafted an exceptional platform, and I can't stress enough how valuable the CEO Challenge is. When student ask me why a business degree is so important, I tell them I never planned on being an event planner, an accountant for a small business startup, or manager of volunteers, yet that is what I am doing in my free time with my business degree! I failed out of college .. twice! Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's always Steve Jobs, right? The billionaire that changed our lives and didn't finish college? I'm not a billionaire, and I DID eventually graduate .. 3 times. These days, I walk into a classroom full of students and write '16' on the board. I ask them what it stands for? After a few answers, I let them know that it is the number of years it took me to finish my bachelor's degree. After a stint of two turbulent years trying to become a chaplain in seminary, I gave up my graduate ambitions as well for a while. Faced with my second bankruptcy (that's right!) as an entrepreneur, I turned to teaching English as a second language to pay the bills and feed my 4 darling children. I then got a Master's in Education in 18 months and during Covid-19, I banged out an MBA. In my book, 'Building Bridges: Can We Love & Relate in a Polarized World?', I talk about how my non-traditional route  changed my perspective on formal education. It feeds my passion to continually challenge the status quo. I weave in my love for the up and coming generations and how we should embrace them, not view them as a threat! We need their youthful vigor and fresh perspective, and they need reliable role models when times get hairy. I find that my struggles in school at ALL levels have become wielded weapons to fight back against the disenchanting enterprise education often is. 7 DAYS LEFT to back my book on Kickstarter!
