We are thrilled to announce Erica Williams as our 2024 Jean Shuman Sholarship recipient! This $3000 award will support Erica's academic journey at the University of Southern California, where she'll be majoring in Industrial Engineering this fall. As a 6th grader in the YEA! Chicago Class of 2019, Erica founded TopNotch Teen, a one-stop shop for teen information designed to empower young people with the resources they need to succeed. In studies across the country and globe, researchers have found that women are more likely to suffer from imposter syndrome than men across all age groups. There are various reasons for this, some of which include a general lack of confidence and mentorship, and a higher exposure to stereotypes. So what can we do? At Female Strong, we are on a mission to instill confidence in women at a young age, combating feelings of self doubt and giving girls the confidence to go forth and follow their passions. We do this through programming like the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), which fosters leadership, resilience, innovation, and financial literacy among middle and high school-aged students.
