Last week we went to Paris 🇫🇷 To the roadshow of SAF-HOLLAND SE with CFO Frank Lorenz-Dietz and VP IR Dana Unger. Our valued investors were able to enjoy some exciting insights. We have of course summarized them again for you: 👉 Declining demand in the OE business to be largely compensated for Demand in the new OE business (original equipment) is normalizing in the core markets, which confirms the strong importance of SAF's flexible operation and a profitable and robust aftermarket business. 👉 Strong aftermarket due to two main factors: 1. Growing axle population in recent years due to continued growth in freight transportation. 2. Transformative acquisition of brake system leader Haldex, which has increased the share of the profitable aftermarket. Great to recently spend 4 days on the road travelling through Germany and Netherlands with TankSafeUK. A long but very productive trip. With the advent of platforms such as Zoom and Teams, some may question the necessity of regularly travelling overseas. However, I still hold true some advice I received a few years ago that 'you should treat your international partners the same as if they were in the UK'. Ergo, if a customer or prospect in Glasgow required an 'in person' meeting, then I wouldn't think twice about travelling up to see them. Therefore, why should it be different for a customer in Germany? I love that Zoom and Teams enables me to keep in regular contact with partners globally, however, there remains real value in face-to-face meetings, regardless of the location. Agree? Disagree? SAN ANTONIO, Texas—Pressure Systems International (P.S.I.) leaders estimate 75-80% of new trailers come equipped with an automatic tire inflation system, and 2/3rds of those are the Meritor Tire Inflation System (MTIS) by P.S.I. That’s an imposing market share P.S.I. expects to grow next year—and still tells only half of its success story. The 30-year-old Texas-based company is well positioned to capitalize on upcoming legislation that requires all European trailers manufactured after July 2024 to feature automatic tire inflation or tire pressure monitoring systems, and many U.S. fleets still are retrofitting older trailers with MTIS systems to increase tire life and fuel economy and reduce costly breakdowns that leave drivers stranded on the roadside. “We’ll likely start running it,” Joe Blankenship, FMC Transport fleet operations manager, predicted after attending the 2023 Fleet Tech Event hosted by P.S.I. and Cummins-Meritor Nov. 15-16. “We’ll probably do some retrofits to see how it works and go from there, and maybe start spec’ing the system on new tank trailers in the future. “It has a lot more to offer than what we’re currently using.” This year's event also featured appearances by American Trucking Associations' Chris Spear, North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE)'s Mike Roeth, and Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance's Kerri Wirachowsky, who revealed an impending OOS criteria change that benefits fleets with automatic tire inflation systems. I mean, when people talk about the expansion of combined transport in Italy, it's often a bit quieter when it comes to southern Italy, isn't it? I therefore think it's great that LKW WALTER has turned its attention to this topic and launched the new block train Foggia<>Padova with onward connections to Germany and Belgium to improve precisely this. As a result, there is now more capacity available in and to southern Italy, and a new connection means that Germany, Benelux and Scandinavia are now better linked with southern Italy. The higher payload of up to 29 tons per truck reduces the number of transports in combined transport, which brings further advantages in addition to the already CO2-saving rail route. And what about lighter goods? Yes, MEGA trailers with an internal height of 3.00m are also used on the route, offering even more volume than a conventional 13.60 m tarpaulin semi-trailer. I'm very excited to see how this will develop in the future and who will secure places on the trains.  #sustainability
