The Neighbourhood Ecosystem Fund – Grants of up to £13500 for community groups based in Scotland “…to inspire, encourage, and enable communities to explore and deliver ambitious ecosystem restoration projects locally. It also seeks to raise awareness about the importance of local ecosystem restoration and address barriers faced by community-led efforts.” Deadline 3 July! To apply for this funding, you must be a not-for-profit community-led organisation based in a specific geographic area in Scotland. Your project must focus on one (or more) parts of ecosystem restoration. 'Coetiroedd Bach: Tiny Forests in Wales' "A grant scheme intended to create Tiny Forests, as part of the Welsh Government’s National Forest" I heard about the above during a meeting of the Welsh Housing Decarbonisation Community of Practice this morning and thought it might be of interest to others: "Is this the right scheme for you? *Do you own or manage land in Wales, or have written permission from the landowner to apply to this scheme? *Are you looking to create a Coetir Bach/Tiny Forest that adheres to Earthwatch’s principles? *Can you involve the community with the creation and management of your woodland site? *Do you require a grant of up to £40,000 for one site, or up to £250,000 for multiple sites? Action for nature is already happening on the ground in Sussex but isn't always visible. 🌱 🐝 In recent meetings with #FarmerClusters across Sussex, the Local Nature Recovery Strategy team have heard about interventions taken to improve habitats and support species, at the same time as running a business. That these aren't known more broadly or celebrated is because land managers are busy getting on with it. The purpose of #LocalNatureRecoveryStrategies for Sussex is to identify opportunities for nature's recovery, but to do that, it’s important we know where we're actually starting from. 🎯 If you're a farmer, community group, organisation or land manager use the tool to MapYourActions for nature. The UK’s diverse #marine and #coastal #ecosystems play a critical role in underpinning our economy, health and wellbeing, but they are increasingly threatened by growing pressures. #NaturalCapitalMarkets provide a route to unlock much-needed #PrivateFinance to safeguard and restore our vital marine and coastal environments. Today we’ve published a first-of-its-kind roadmap to bring us one step closer to establishing high-integrity marine natural capital markets in the UK, building on existing actions across the country. This Roadmap, funded by The Crown Estate, Blue Marine Foundation, Crown Estate Scotland, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and University of Portsmouth and developed by Finance Earth and Pollination, was co-designed through a year-long initiative involving more than 200 UK and international stakeholders. It sets out recommendations and key actions for developing high-integrity markets that can support the conservation and restoration of the UK’s vital marine and coastal environments, delivering real, measurable value to people and nature.
