Heritage, Health & Hospitals: A History of Ideas Come and ASCHB on the 18th April for a day of talks from a wide range of wonderful speakers, culminating in what should be another remarkable plenary session. You can find full details of how to sign up at https://lnkd.in/ebvfTcY9 As with so many aspects of our lives, healthcare changed radically as a result of the Industrial Revolution and The Enlightenment. Some changes were of immense value, but others had unfortunate consequences. ASCHB2024 turns the microscope onto the healthcare and the historic environment, examining the impacts of science and fashion on hospitals and other healthcare settings, and asking: what are we doing right, and where have we gone off the rails? How can we extract the best ideas from the whole history of healthcare in the built environment, to construct a better and healthier future?

Last week, Rocket Doctor's founder and CEO, Dr. William Cherniak, had the privilege of attending the ITUP (Insure the Uninsured Project) Annual Conference, a cornerstone event that shapes the future of equitable health in California. This prestigious conference is where the heart of California's health policy community comes together to envision the next steps towards achieving health equity across the state. For more than 20 years, ITUP has spotlighted influential voices in health policy, including elected officials, experts, advocates, and many more dedicated to making a difference. At the conference, discussions went deep into health equity, delving into how access to the internet, cultural considerations, and provider availability can play pivotal roles in expanding access to care for patients in need across Urban, Rural and Tribal Communities. This is especially crucial in our mission to empower health equity through technology. Imagine a future where everyone, regardless of location or background, can access quality healthcare services with just a click. At Rocket Doctor, we're not just imagining it; we're working to make it a reality.

Newest issue of Lab Matters, APHL's magazine, is here! A burst of emergency federal funding during the COVID-19 pandemic allowed public health laboratories to upgrade, improve and invest. Laboratories modernized equipment, hired personnel, created more efficient processes, and expanded public health programs such as next generation sequencing and wastewater surveillance. But supplemental funding has begun to recede. The boom and bust cycle of public health funding is well known to public health professionals.
