Did you know in the 1800s in order for an apprentice to become 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 they had to join large groups of other hopeful apprentices in massive meeting halls? 😮 They would sit for hours and listen to a 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 who would motivate them and excite them and tell them that once they left the 3 day gathering they would be able to begin working as true Master Teachers - as long as they 𝑩𝑬𝑳𝑰𝑬𝑽𝑬𝑫! 😏 Not Really. Because that's stupid and no mildly intelligent apprentice would ever fall for it. Stop listening to the 𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 about the event or the mastermind or the "we'll turn you into a best-selling this or that in 3 days" sales gimmicks. Instead, 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐝. Choose to have someone come alongside you in order to guide you and hold you accountable. We learn by doing more than reading about doing or listening to motivational keynotes about doing. Work takes Work 🛠 ✌ Together We Rise!

On T Level Thursday of National Apprenticeship Week, I’ve been with Make UK members at Leeds City College’s School of Engineering, where there are around sixty 16-18 year olds studying engineering and manufacturing T Levels. Those employers who are engaged with T Levels are finding them a useful way of widening their talent pool and developing a pipeline of future apprentices. Happy National Apprenticeship Week! I am now 3 months into my Business Administration Apprenticeship here at Limelight signs, to say time flies would be an understatement! I have already gained so much knowledge and so many valuable skills within the workplace, about both administration and the sign industry, and I am still learning every day; who would have thought there is so much to learn about road traffic signs?! As a way to celebrate this week, we would like to invite Apprentices from our customer-base to come and visit us here at Limelight signs, to get an understanding of what we do here; and it would also be a great way to log some off the job hours! Something’s I’ve learned at work is that you can make great memories and friends. I’ve made good friends around the job and I love how we work. We work together and we handle things together. When we see an elderly lady or man shopping by themselves and they need help taking it to their car. We usually go and do it for them. When learn how to communicate with each other. That’s 1 thing I learned, the other thing is when you’re talking to a customer you gotta show them respect and they will usually give show you respect as well. Sometimes I doesn’t always go that way. It’s pretty common to run into a rude customer. The best way to handle it is to let the supervisors take care of it. The other downfall about work is you can sometimes have that supervisor who is very strict with you and doesn’t show you respect at all. They can make you hate the job. That’s why you gotta talk to the other supervisors about what’s going on so they can take care of it. That’s happened to me before but now work is fun and I enjoy working with my coworkers.
