As summer comes to an end, the back-to-school season brings with it an increase in traffic, especially around schools and neighborhoods. Whether you’re a parent, student, or commuter, it’s crucial to stay vigilant on the road. Here are some key driving safety tips that we thought you should know: 1. Slow Down in School Zones: Always observe and adhere to the speed limits in school zones. Children may be walking or biking to school, and their unpredictable movements make it essential to drive cautiously. 2. Watch for Pedestrians: Be cautious at crosswalks, intersections, and in residential areas. Yield to pedestrians, and never block a crosswalk when stopped at a red light. 3. Stay Alert: Distracted driving is dangerous, especially in areas with heavy foot traffic. Put away your phone, avoid eating or multitasking, and keep your full attention on the road. 4. Be Mindful of New Drivers: Be patient and give them the space they need to drive safely. 5. Practice Patience: The back-to-school season can lead to increased traffic delays. Exercise patience, especially during peak school hours. By following these tips, we can all contribute to a safer environment for students returning to school. Stay safe, stay alert, and have a great school year! 🚗🎒

As the school bell rings and children return to school tomorrow, let's prioritise safety together! Parents and kids are stepping into a new routine after almost two months of summer break. Some little ones may be experiencing their very first day at school – kindergarten, primary, or secondary, adding an extra layer of excitement that can lead to unpredictable behaviour. Here are some friendly reminders to ensure a safe back-to-school transition: 🚗 Observe the 40km/h speed limit in school zones and pay attention to school signs. With children walking, biking, exiting buses, and buzzing with excitement, let's not forget the basics of road safety. 🚴 If your child is riding to school, make sure they wear a helmet. 🚦 Always use zebra crossings or traffic lights when crossing the road, and remind kids to look both ways. 🚸 For our littlest learners, holding a parent/guardian's hand when crossing the road is a must. 🚌 When getting off the school bus, ensure kids cross the road safely – drivers might not easily spot them. 📵 Stay focused while driving – no talking or texting on the phone. 👥 Remind children about "stranger danger" – no talking to or accepting rides from strangers. Let's all contribute to a safe return to school in 2024 by keeping road safety at the forefront of our minds. #BackToSchoolSafety #CommunitySafety #RoadSafetyFirst

How safe is your school's pick-up and drop-off area? Have you ever been the subject of frustration or road rage when picking up or dropping off your child at school? Before and after school pick up and drop off is an important time for schools. It is crucial that parents, teachers, and students work together during these times to minimise risk and ensure the safety of all students. Our School Road Safety Video Productions communicate to parents and students the correct procedures during these times, keeping your school community informed and safe. The visual nature of video helps remove any misunderstandings or uncertainty about the correct locations for school pick-up and drop-off. In other educational institutions, road safety videos can be used in learning settings where specific rules apply. These may also help university students keep safe when on campus, such as safe evening walk routes. Because every student's journey to and from school should be a safe one. Here is a video we shot (specifically aimed to students) for Mango Hill State School. Tomorrow we'll post the parent version. If your school would benefit from a Road Safety Video we'd love to hear from you.

With summer winding down and the new school year kicking off, we wish all students, teachers, and administrators a fun and safe return! We would also like to remind drivers of a couple back-to-school safety tips. 1️⃣ Watch for School Zones: Always be on the lookout for school zone signs and adhere to the reduced speed limits. Children may be crossing or waiting for buses. 2️⃣ Stop for School Buses: If a school bus has its stop sign extended, you must stop your vehicle and wait until the sign is retracted and the bus begins moving. 3️⃣ Be Mindful of Darting Kids: Kids can sometimes dart into the road unexpectedly. Stay alert, especially near schools and playgrounds. 4️⃣ Observe Crosswalks: Be prepared to stop for crossing guards and children using crosswalks. Give them plenty of space and time to cross safely. 5️⃣ Avoid Distractions: Keep your focus on the road. Avoid using your phone or engaging in other distractions while driving in school zones. 6️⃣ Watch for Bicyclists: Students on bicycles may be on their way to school. Give them space and be cautious when passing them. 7️⃣ Check Blind Spots: Make sure to check your mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes or making turns, especially in areas with high pedestrian traffic. At EnerCorp, we’re committed to ensuring the safety and security of our communities. Let’s all do our part to make this back-to-school season as safe as possible for students and drivers alike!
