When you are the manufacturer of the GPUs which power the current frenzy of “AI Everything” it does seem a tad self-serving to blithely state that “everyone is a programmer.” While I agree with the importance of being a domain expert, I do not see that as being the only necessity in successfully utilizing the current crop of Low-code and No-code platforms. There is no doubt about the potential generative AI brings to the table, as seen by the love affair (or shiny new thing?) companies like Salesforce and ServiceNow, and many many more, are sharing with their customers. But to what actual, commercially valuable, end? No, everyone is not a programmer, and LLMs, machine learning, and GenAI are not going to change that for the near term. But they will over time improve the experiences for those who do know how to program, and lower the bar to entry for those who do not. In the meantime No-code platforms which eliminate the need for the user to understand ‘software’ and the ‘development life cycle’ will continue to raise the bar on what it means to *not* be a programmer.

While it promises to enhance our capabilities and experiences, there’s also a fear that it could lead to increased screen time, privacy concerns, and a blurring of the line between the digital and physical world. As we embrace these advancements, it’s crucial to foster a dialogue about responsible and ethical use to ensure that technology serves us, and not the other way around.

Meet Vincent Långström, the electronics and software mastermind at Vext! 🌟 Vincent’s daily work at Vext involves designing and testing electronics, ensuring our products have all the features needed to keep your plants healthy. On the software side, he plans and develops solutions that make the Vext cabinet work seamlessly, ensuring reliable plant care. Before joining Vext, Vincent studied electronics/electrical engineering with a minor in data science. Outside of work, he's a man of many talents. He plays in a band and enjoys creating cool projects like DIY smart home gadgets. He also occasionally unwinds with video games. Vincent’s diverse projects include building small internet-connected devices that communicate securely, experimenting with radio communication, and constructing moving robots that map and navigate by bouncing lasers off objects. He has briefly experimented with autonomous sailboats and even created a basic computer processor that occupied half a table. For fun, he composes music parodies and absurd jingles. In the past, Vincent has set up smart lighting that follows sunrise and sunset, managed his own Google Drive alternative, developed mobile apps, built desktop computers, and engaged in scouting activities and, tracking and retrieving weather balloons.
