Happy Monday! Look what we found. During a recent visit to a tenant job, we stumbled upon this violation. According to state regulations, this setup is a no-go. 🛑 Per code, no more than two heads should be supplied from a 1-inch pipe, unless the system was specifically designed otherwise. Compliance matters, and we’re here to ensure safety and adherence to regulations. . . . #deescofireprotection #onthejob #fireprotection #atlanta #firesafety #totalfireprotection #firealarmsystem #welovefireprotection #retrofit #whatwedobest #pipefitters #pipefitter #pipefitting #committedtosafety #beprepared #atlga #atlanta #firealarm #firealarmsystem #fireandlifesafety #backflowpreventer #fireprotectionsystems #firesystems

⚠️ Fatality alert - On May 16, 2024, a miner died when the excavator he was operating traveled over a 200-foot highwall. Prevent further injury or death by following these best practices: -Reduce fall hazard exposure by limiting the distance equipment can safely operate near the edge of highwalls. -Examine benches to identify hazards related to insufficient bench width, locations of other equipment, loose material, etc. -Discuss highwall hazards with miners and train miners to recognize these hazards. -Address hazards in the mine’s Surface Mobile Equipment Safety Program. Include safe work practices for weather conditions (fog, heavy rain, or snow) that could reduce visibility. Additional Information: This is the seventh fatality reported in 2024, and the second classified as “Machinery.”

An effective compartmentation (fire doors, fire dampers…) is crucial for passive fire protection in construction projects. It ensures structural integrity during fires according to fire protection regulations. At the same time Fire Extinguishers and Fire Fighting Equipment, together with correct signage, can ensure a first and fast intervention in case of emergencies. It all plays a vital role in fire safety protocols and emergency response procedures, helping to minimize property damage and prevent injuries or loss of life during fire incidents. #mozzanica #fireprotection

While equipment roll-overs are typically uncommon, we find it important to educate our employees and others on safe practices to prevent such accidents. Like many other construction industry incidents, roll-overs are easy to avoid. By educating yourself on the equipment you are operating, maneuvering on safe routes, and being aware of your surroundings, you are three steps closer to keeping yourself safe. 1. Know the limitations of your equipment. 2. Avoid traveling on off-haul routes into terrain where holes are hidden by water. 3. Do not attempt to dump beds near edges of slopes nor where the front tires are at a greater grade than the rear tires. Thank you to our Savannah Division Safety Manager, Mary, for providing an in-depth understanding of some essential steps to take in avoiding equipment roll-overs.

Trenching and excavation is one of the most dangerous construction operations in which employees can engage. Due to the complexity of trench rescue operations and the fact that the closest fire department with trench rescue capability is usually hours away, trench rescues frequently turn into body recoveries. Trenches are very unforgiving of unsafe behavior. Remember that safety is NOT our goal. Our goal is to go home to our families at the end of the day. Safety is just the tool we use to accomplish that goal.
This is why the Trenching and Excavation Safety Taskforce (TEST) was started. April 16, 2019 Two dead after trench collapses at construction site in Windsor "...workers on scene were able to quickly get a PVC pipe to one of the construction workers and were using that to communicate with him for several hours after the collapse. His family members were also able to speak with him before he died. Emergency responders were not able to contact the other victim." -Coloradoan.com Published Apr. 16, 2019 | Updated Apr. 18, 2019: https://lnkd.in/dFwr6Yim Our mission is still the same today: Creating industry awareness and driving insight into trenching and excavation safety, collaborating without organizational or geographic boundaries in an effort to improve day-to-day safety for field workers. #ThinkInsideTheBox Video source: https://lnkd.in/gJ5REU7 #TrenchSafety #ExcavateSafe #TrenchCollapse #Why #Trench #Excavation #Safety #Taskforce #CaveIn #Communicate #Safe #Digging #Dig #Safely #Protection #Protective #Measure #Sloping #Shielding #Shoring #Slope #Shield #Shore #OSHA #Compliance #NeverForget

Let's test your fall protection knowledge! Using a 2-foot safety margin, what is the minimum required fall clearance for a worker who is 6' 0" tall and is using a 6-foot shock-absorbing lanyard that's attached to a common Type A anchor point located 2 feet above the worker's dorsal D-ring? In this scenario, there is no swing fall hazard, and there are no obstructions below the worker aside from the lower level itself. NOTE: Fall clearance is the amount of space you need below a worker to ensure they don't hit a lower level. This is an EXTREMELY common scenario (tying off with a 6-foot lanyard), so it's important to understand how to calculate total fall distances/required clearances.
