On December 1969, a momentous day in aviation history, a Boeing 747 embarked on its inaugural public preview flight from Seattle, hashtag #Washington, to hashtag #NewYork City. This flight served as a glimpse into the future of jumbo-jet airline service. Although the flight carried only 176 passengers, primarily journalists, it showcased the spacious cabin area and the upstairs cocktail lounge. With a size twice that of any previous airliner, the Boeing 747 was poised to revolutionize air travel. Scheduled to enter regular operation in early 1970, primarily by Pan American World Airways, the aircraft represented a significant investment, costing approximately 28 million dollars, including spare parts. This amount was four times the cost of the original Boeing 707. The demand for the Boeing 747 was evident, with 28 airlines from the United States and overseas having already purchased a total of 185 of these “Jumbo Jets.” Pan American planned to configure its seating arrangements to accommodate 58 passengers in first class and 304 in economy class. While other airlines considered similar passenger loads ranging from 350 to 375, the hashtag #Boeing 747 had the potential to carry up to 490 passengers. 🇺🇸

Following an incident where Alaska Airlines B737-9 lost the rear mid cabin exit door mid air. United Airlines is grounding all of its 737-9 MAX aircraft as it awaits clarity on FAA requirements for return to service. With the US Federal Aviation Administration now “encouraging” Boeing 737-900ER operators to inspect the plugged mid-cabin exit doors (MEDs) as part of the ongoing investigation into the Alaska Airlines 737-9 Max accident, Cirium data and analysis indicates that the alert potentially affects some 345 aircraft in service with US operators. A further 30 -900ERs with international operators have been identified as being fitted with plugs. The major 737-900ER operators with plugged MEDs are US-based (in-service fleet): United Airlines: 136 Delta Air Lines: 130 (excluding 30 ex-Lion Air -900ERs with deactivated MEDs rather than plugs) Alaska Airlines: 79 International -900ER operators with plugged MEDs include: Turkish Airlines: 15 El Al: 8 Korean Air: 6 Of the 497 737-900ERs currently in service, 78 have higher-density cabin layouts which require the MEDs to be active, so do not require inspections. At least 44 -900ERs currently in service have been identified as having MEDs deactivated rather than plugged and are also currently unaffected by the safety alert. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration ( #FAA ) has recommended visual inspections for #Boeing 737-900ER aircraft due to their similarities with the model involved in a mid-air emergency on an Alaska #Airlines flight on January 5, 2024. These inspections should primarily concentrate on “mid-exit door plugs,” as specified by the FAA in a statement. This is the same type of panel that became detached during the incident on Alaska Airlines flight 1282. The Boeing 737-900ER is utilised by #Alaska, #Delta, and several international airlines. Although older than the 737 Max 9 involved in the Alaska flight incident, it shares the same door plug design, according to the FAA. It is essential to emphasise that there is currently no evidence suggesting any issues or defects with the mid-exit door plugs on the 737-900ER, as highlighted by the FAA. This particular model has accumulated 11 million hours of operation. The FAA also noted that operators had previously conducted extra inspections of the 737-900ER following the emergency on Alaska Airlines. The recent announcement underscores the necessity for operators to ensure that the door plugs are securely fastened, adding an extra layer of safety.

Following Alaska Airlines window come off Federal Aviation Administration & EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency order all airlines to ground all Boeing 737 max until further notice. Following the previous issue in December, now it's a window issue in January. An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 9, carrying 177 people, had to make an emergency landing in Oregon, USA, as passengers reported a window panel had come off after takeoff. Alaska Airlines stated it's taking a precautionary measure by temporarily grounding its fleet of 65 planes until thorough maintenance and inspections are completed, CEO Ben Minicucci mentions in a statement. Flight 1282 took off from Portland International around 5 p.m. and safely returned after the crew reported a pressurization issue,' stated the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the social media platform It appeared showed a blown-out aircraft window with oxygen masks hanging from the ceiling of the plane. Federal Aviation Administration orders all Boeing 737 max to be grounded until further notice.
