Our own Monica Saucedo, PhD testified during today’s Assembly Budget Subcommittee No. 2 on Human Services hearing. "When policymakers cut critical safety net supports, they push families and children into or deeper into poverty, with often devastating consequences for their future. That’s why it is so vital to protect the progress California has made in recent years, strengthening CalWORKs and other safety net programs to build toward a state where no child lives in deep poverty." ⚡ Read more in our latest: https://lnkd.in/g7E_paWz

Every family in Ohio should be able to afford healthy, nutritious food, have safe and stable housing, access to health care and all the other elements of a good life. The bipartisan Child Tax Credit expansion in the tax bill currently in negotiations has the potential to lift nearly 446,000 Ohio children out of poverty. We saw the impact that the CTC had during the pandemic to support families in affording basic necessities like rent, groceries, utilities, and even paying down credit. The Child Tax Credit is proof that when parents have more financial and emotional stability, kids and families thrive.
FRAC applauds a new proposal for the #ChildTaxCredit that would lift 400K children out of poverty. It’s time for Congress to guide the nation back on the path to combating poverty and extend support to families with the lowest incomes who struggle to meet their basic needs. Inaction is not an option. FRAC supports this plan and urges Congress to quickly pass this bill. In the long term, FRAC looks forward to working with lawmakers to finish the job, including by making the CTC fully refundable. https://lnkd.in/g4vcXf53
