📣Appropriations Update 📣 We want to thank everyone who took action this week to protect funding for @AmeriCorps & @AmeriCorpsNCCC, and the vital resources they provide community-based organizations all over the country. This week, the House Appropriations Committee approved a bill that would jeopardize more than 71,000 AmeriCorps positions, risking the loss of vital resources for community-based organizations all over the country in 2026. Congress still has opportunities to protect and strengthen this funding, and we’ll need advocates like you to voice your support in the months ahead. ➡️️ TAKE ACTION: Urge Congress to reconsider this decision and protect funding for AmeriCorps by filling out this form, bit.ly/CCFY25, or share this and tag your representative, asking them to #Stand4Service [Image description: 1 graphic a black background saying, ‘Congress just jeaprodized 71,000 AmeriCorps positions, including vital roles at FoodCorps' and all capitalized text saying, ‘take action.’]

Request for Action - AmeriCorps Decreasing Polarization by Increasing Harmony In Our Communities Across America Your help please for the good of the common good. Our youth and young adults need to learn the importance and meaning of the word harmony outside of the music genre. In response to AmeriCorps CEO's statement that his third objective is "decreasing polarization" I have contacted the AmeriCorps Building Bridges Days of Service Director, asking if AmeriCorps would you be willing to promote, encourage, and foster the Harmony In Our Communities Across America concept. Decreasing Polarization - In CEO Michael Smith's AmeriCorps webinar of 01/11/2022 he pointed out that of his three major objective/focal points. The third being: #3. Decreasing Polarization Which to us means: #3 Increasing Harmonization (The action or process of making an attitude consistent and compatible.) This nation was founded by Harmonious Communities. An increase in an attitude of harmony must come before there can be a decrease in polarization and an increase in unity. We need to teach our children the meaning and importance of harmony outside the music room. A "Harmony In Our Communities Across America" AmeriCorps program in your state would contribute to changing attitudes and decreasing polarization in our nation? We are seeking volunteers willing to promote, encourage and foster Harmony In Our Communities Across America, send us a message if you are willing to help.

If you're a white supervisor interested in deepening your anti-racist approach in a supportive peer space, register for our next offering of Liberatory Principles & Practices for White Supervisors on Tuesday, July 30th! https://lnkd.in/gu6z9wps We often think of our healing and liberation as a garden that blossoms and thrives because we tend to it. Now, what happens when the pesky invasive species of white supremacy culture are set on destroying it? In our Liberatory Principles & Practices for White Supervisors training, we invite white social justice and nonprofit leaders to engage in this metaphor as a way to unpack and uproot how the characteristics of saviorism and defensiveness might be showing up in their supervision practices.

#Juneteenth commemorates the anniversary of June 19, 1865 – when the news of freedom arrived in Texas and reached the last remaining enslaved individuals. Today is a day of celebration, marking the end of chattel slavery in the United States and the freedom of future generations. Today is also a reminder that there is so much more to be done in the name of justice and equality. At MN8 Energy, we know that diverse perspectives drive innovation and propel us towards a brighter, more sustainable future. Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion starts in the workplace and extends into the communities we serve and beyond, as we work to create a more inclusive and equitable tomorrow.’ If you’re looking for an avenue to support change in your community, we suggest working with organizations like Black Girls Code, Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Harlem Grown,The Carrie Meek Foundation and the South Florida People of Color, all of which are catalysts for progress for their local communities. Why It Matters;
During #BlackHistoryMonth and beyond, Good Shepherd Food Bank honors and applauds the tireless efforts of Black leaders, individuals, and families in championing food security within their communities. Our commitment extends throughout the year as we partner to amplify the voices of those disproportionately affected by food insecurity, standing alongside them in promoting community-driven solutions. Acknowledging the undeniable intersectionality of poverty and food insecurity, we pledge to utilize our influence as the largest hunger relief organization in the state. Our focus is on channeling resources directly to organizations and coalitions dedicated to addressing the unique needs of immigrants, refugees, Indigenous communities, and communities of color. This commitment reflects our dedication to a more equitable and inclusive approach to hunger relief. #FeedingMaine
