CEO at Ford Motor Company

As a lifelong car guy, I was surprised when I fell in love with electric vehicles. And it wasn't because of government policies or political beliefs. It's because I drive one. And as CEO of Ford Motor Company, I see how they can improve the lives of our customers. Electric vehicles remove daily hassles and remind us why we love to drive. In my 40 years developing vehicles, one thing I've learned is that you never want to be on the wrong side of customers and what matters in their lives.

Jim Farley As a lifelong "petrolhead" (car guy is more the correct word IMO bc I do not like cars for the type of fuel, but the car itself), and a current EV owner, I agree but also disagree. You're correct about EV removing [some of] daily life hassles. I commute around 100 miles/day, it's great to not fight the long lines at Costco & my employer (one of your biggest competitors) offers free charging. I park it & forget it. This is why I purchased the EV - specifically for my commute. That said, I can't even begin to tinker with the idea of going on a road trip with it. Can't even use it to go up to our cottage "up north" (just over 2hrs away) during the winter months bc of the decreased range. Visiting relatives in IN? Forget about it, let alone our families in NC. But I love it as my commuter. It's quiet, smooth, zippy, allows me to navigate all the metro Detroit construction traffic with better comfort & ease. But sir, not everyone has the luxury of owning a dedicated vehicle just for commuting and another for other task(s). Not everyone has easy access to charging stations, think of folks who live in apartments. To say that that's what your customers want and need in their lives is missing the boat entirely.

I dare to disagree... I wish we could come back to the origin of our business and start listening to the voice of our customers again because it is mainly them who have made this brand so unique and successful over the years. What we see here in Europe but I believe it's the same in the US too is that most of our loyal customers simply refuse electrification (and we all know the reasons - I do not say it's a bad idea at all but the current technology is simply not 100% ready yet) and it's becoming the sad trend for other OEMs as well across the globe. So please, do not miss that train, forget about politicians dreams and get back to old good real engines. 2035 is still too far away from us - and if ever... Let's make FORD great again :-)

As much as an EV is useful, it would be really nice if it wasn't forced down our throats. We don't have the structure to handle them properly, especially where I live. Plus, an EV can't do what my F250 can do (legally and safely). Sure, if all I needed to do was commute, then yeah, EV would be a good choice (still not the best choice in my eyes when I run the math), but we go on long distance drives and I abhor sitting somewhere waiting on the vehicle. If we are going somewhere, we want to GET there. not add a bunch of hours to the trip. Plus, I know there are no chargers where my Mom lives so I'd have to drive 20 miles JUST to get a charge. Forget THAT!!!

Sorry Jim, I’m a big Ford guy but you are on the wrong side of the customer. This EV obsession is a scam on EVERY level. It’s actually doing severe damage to the company and as a share holder I’m extremely disappointed in the direction you are taking the company. If you spent just a fraction of the money you have dumped into EV’s and placed that into quality control and drastically reduced the 1 million plus vehicles you have on recall Ford would rule the car industry. Very very disappointed in you leadership!!!

Even those that would consider one, the prices have to come down significantly for someone to want to dive in (need to be able to purchase fully loaded fully functional BEV vehicles that are equally as capable as their IC equivalents for 30-50K for sedans, small crossover or small SUVs). Rural customers or customers that live in areas such as western mountain states are NOT interested in BEVs...too limited in range, not enough charging stations, too long to charge, etc, etc. An electric motor powering the axles is a great thing, but the source being a battery is NOT a great thing. There isn't enough electrical energy available in the United States for the entire country to switch over to BEVs and still maintain the current standard of power usage for homes, businesses, etc. We're already seeing grid stress all over the country with normal day-to-day use of energy because the EPA is wanting to shut down functional long-standing power plants because they're not green enough. The only way we could EVER get to high BEV usage and adoption is if we build nuclear energy plants everywhere, literally - at least one per every large city. It's the ONLY way we will have the energy needed. Groupthink is a dangerous path.

It’s to be expected he would support EV or I would think. EV’s in principle has its merits as to protect this big blue marble we all call home right. I feel horrible for Ford & all the others who must risk billions up front to mass produce products that’s success is solely dependent on our infrastructure which isn’t there today to support it. How many think the cost of electric won’t skyrise & how many think big oil won’t raise prices to offset any decrease in demand. How many think EV to charge won’t be as expensive as it is today to fill a combustion engine. As EV become the norm combustion eng. will be to costly to drive or own because common sense says big oil will just keep increasing price to maintain profit. Imagine all the classic car collectors cars becoming nothing but trailer babies. Imagine what that does to there values. For every action there is an equal & opposite reaction.

Sure, you are rich enough to have both ICE vehicles and EV. What about a family only can afford one vehicle with loan?

Jim Farley’s insights on the future of electric vehicles are truly compelling. It’s inspiring to see a lifelong car enthusiast embrace the shift to EVs and recognize their potential. Ford’s commitment to innovation and sustainability makes it an exciting company to invest in. Looking forward to seeing how these advancements shape the future of transportation. #Ford #EV #Innovation

Farley is not as good as hr thinks he is. He's not been an instrumental leader by any stretch of the imagination. EV's are doomed. He will bankrupt the company. Nice guy though. Just wrong.
