Valuations for Spanish solar pipelines have in the main decreased over recent quarters, fueled by power price cannibalisation fears as more renewables capacity comes online, and ongoing concerns over the pace at which administrative bodies are able to process projects. Not so for operational or ready to build assets, which have seen much less of a fall in values. This European construction group’s acquisition of a circa 100MW portfolio of ready-to-build solar PV projects in central Spain from a global developer in December 2023 is one example of how successful deals are still possible. https://lnkd.in/gwGRxHKc

Recently, the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) released the latest data, revealing that Germany added 1.183 GW of solar photovoltaic capacity in November. It includes 608.3 MW from rooftop installations (primarily driven by incentives from the Renewable Energy Act), 16.6 MW from ground-based stations, and 2.9 MW from tenant electricity projects.   From January to November in 2023, Germany's total additional photovoltaic capacity reached 13.18 GW. This figure is only slightly below the 14 GW predicted for the entire year 2023 in the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (SPE)'s "2023-2027 European Solar Market Outlook" report, differing by less than 1 GW. Recent @Lazard Levelized Cost of Energy (#LCOE) study shows that average levelized costs for new U.S. wind and solar projects showed little change from 2023 to 2024 but have increased significantly since 2021 due to higher interest rates and other cost pressures. LCOEs for new #renewables projects with attached energy storage remain higher than for standalone renewables projects, but the Inflation Reduction Act’s Investment Tax Credit should help stablize that in the near future. #LCOE #energy #inflationreductionact #prospectresources

☀️⚡♻️ Confidence continues to grow that the UK Government target of 70 GW by 2035 will be met as UK solar capacity hits 15.6 GW. In the first 11 months of the year, the UK added 871 MW of new PV systems (although the Solar Energy UK association believe this figure to have surpassed 1 GW). This is a marked increase from the 496.8 MW added in the first 11 months of 2022, and the 323.9 MW added during the same period in 2021. #renewableenergy #odinglobal #solarenergy #ukrenewable

Italy: In Q1 2024, utility-scale solar grows 373%. In Q12024, the Italian solar industry added more than 1.7GW of solar PV capacity, a notable increase over the same time in 2023. The largest rise, up more than 373% from Q1 2023, was seen in the utility-scale sector. During the first three months of this year, 579MW of new utility-scale PV was installed, as opposed to 123MW during the same period in 2023.
