Equality encompasses social and economic aspects and ensures health equity for all individuals who identify as women. Join us in taking action on Women's Equality Day by contributing to the cause of health equity in these ways: → Educate yourself and others about the unique challenges individuals identifying as women face regarding cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. → Support organizations like FWC that work tirelessly to advance research, improve access to care, and provide resources to those affected by gynecologic cancers. → Share your knowledge and engage in conversations about health disparities that disproportionately affect marginalized communities. Our collaborative efforts can lead to a future where everyone has equal access to healthcare, regardless of background or socioeconomic status. #WomensEqualityDay #GynCancers #MoveTheMessage

8th March 2024, International Women's Day A global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year's campaign theme #InspireInclusion emphasizes the importance of education and awareness for diversity in fostering inclusion and empowering women. Whilst we celebrate the #inspireinclusion theme to promote diversity in leadership positions let us not forget that good health is the fundament of our existence. Let #inspireinclusion inspire to improve women’s health: Access to #equitablehealthcare is a fundamental human right : access to affordable, non-discriminatory health care for women remains a global problem #Globalwomenshealthburden shows: o 43% are conditions that neither affect women disproportionately nor differently eg. ischemic heart disease, tuberculosis o 47% affect women disproportionately eg. auto-immune diseases and migraine o 4% affect women differently eg. atrial fibrillation and colon cancer o 5% are women specific conditions eg. fertility related and gynecological. o 50% of the burden affects women of working age. #Womencentriccare across a life course needs a holistic approach that goes beyond sexual or reproductive health. #Educationandawareness on the most debilitating women’s health issues: 1 out of 3 women are dying of cardiovascular disease (CVD), compared to 1 out of 11 dying of breast cancer However, CVD in women remains under-studied, under-recognized, under-diagnosed and under-treated. #educatewomen and #educatehealthcareprofessionals. CVD is up to 80% preventable #womenshealthcaregap is “The Grand Canyon” (quote Dr. Jane Delgado, USA) Women’s Health access matters #WHAMReport provides data driven evidence on how investing more in women’s health research, and improving women’s lives can have huge societal economic impacts. Closing the #WomensHealthGap has the potential to provide A $1 Trillion GDP opportunity annually to improve Lives and Economies (WEF & McKinsey Health Institute, January 2024) So, let #inspireinclusion also inspire to improve women’s health!

Happy #EqualResearchDay! I'm home from New York, and back to being surrounded by 4,523 Hot Wheels, but they are all huge fans of their new coffee table track. Sharing four facts from the book in the photo, which you can buy here to support Women's Health Access Matters: https://lnkd.in/gNgHbxK9 No. 8 - 64% of common medical interventions are less effective or less accessible for women compared to only 10% for men. No. 10 - Across 770 diseases, from diabetes to cancer, women are diagnosed on average four years later than men. No. 56 - Women with heart attack symptoms are often misdiagnosed with stress or panic disorder instead of receiving a full cardiovascular workup. No. 90 - 29% of U.S. women live in states where abortion is either unavailable or severely restricted. Many thanks to Evvy for creating both #EqualResearchDay and this amazing book to promote inclusive research, tell women's stories, and raise awareness for the gender health gap. #womenshealth #clinicalresearch #genderhealthgap

🗓️ Just raising awareness in case you didn't know that women's health has been under researched, underfunded and the data used to guide clinical diagnosis today is biased to male biology. Healthcare Inequality Secrets 👫 Men & Women 🎤 Welcome, everyone, to an eye-opening discussion on healthcare inequality: "Why Some Get Extreme Treatment While Others Don't!" 🏥 🤔 Did you know that doctors sometimes treat people differently based on their gender? Let's delve into this important issue. ⚖️ Consider prostate cancer in guys, where a "watch and wait" approach is often suggested. Now, contrast this with pre-cancer of the breast (DCIS) in girls. They're frequently advised to undergo a mastectomy, even if a less invasive lumpectomy could be just as effective for many with invasive breast cancer. ❗️ So, why does this matter? We should ensure everyone receives equal and quality care. Boys, girls, men, and women deserve the same treatment options. It's not fair that some face easier treatments while others endure more challenging ones. 🌟 The imperative is clear! We must spread awareness about these disparities and advocate for fair healthcare. It's time to challenge these inequities and guarantee that everyone, regardless of gender, has access to the best and safest treatments. 👊 Together, let's break down these barriers and envision a future where everyone enjoys fair and equal healthcare. It's our collective voice that can bring about positive change. Let's stand up and reshape the landscape of healthcare for the better! #GenderBias in healthcare is a significant issue that directly impacts #maternalhealth. This bias can lead to inadequate care, misdiagnoses, and poorer health outcomes for mothers and their children. When healthcare providers make assumptions based on gender, it affects the quality of care, leading to higher maternal mortality rates, increased infant mortality, and long-term health issues for both mothers and children. Maternal and child health is crucial for the well-being of families and communities, and ensuring equitable healthcare for all is essential. At ACESWorld, we are committed to reducing health disparities and addressing unfair healthcare practices. Through our #HealthEquity resources and Gender Equity Diversity Collective (#GEDC), we provide valuable information and support on maternal and child health issues, aiming to create a more equitable healthcare system. Like and share this post and visit our Maternal and Child Health Resource (https://lnkd.in/ehV5gbYi) to show your support and spread awareness. Together, we can ensure that every mother and child receives the care they deserve. Gender at Work CAMFED - Campaign for Female Education Womankind Worldwide

CEO, Sāmya Ventures & The Women's Storytelling Salon™; global health, gender and development specialist with over 20 years of experience in research, evaluation and policy advocacy; storyteller
Women’s Health gets its long overdue attention in the US! “We will build a health care system that puts women and their lived experiences at its center," —Dr. Jill Biden Kudos to our FLOTUS and Jennifer Klein and her team at the White House Gender Policy Council. I’ve worked in women’s health all over the world for the last 20 plus years, but as a newly minted US citizen, I’m thrilled to see the #usgovernment put US women and girls front and center in our health care system. As a country that supports other countries to be more gender responsive in health service delivery for women through their life cycle, we (the US) can’t afford to have women dying in childbirth or girls getting pregnant when they don’t want to be mothers or women dying of heart attacks or being told that they have to live with menopausal symptoms. There is so much to learn and do from other countries as well as we build a health system that supports all American women through their life cycle. It’s time! Let’s do this! #womenshealth #evidencebased #ushealthcare #globalhealth #healthandgender
