As a member of the ACS National Breast Cancer Roundtable (and part of its Risk Assessment, Screening, Risk Reduction & Early Diagnosis Workgroup), I am excited to share our 5-year Strategic Plan, which centers around four key priority areas: 1. Risk Assessment, Screening, Risk Reduction & Early Diagnosis 2. Access to Treatment 3. Clinical Trials 4. Support & Wellness Services By prioritizing these areas, the ACS NBCRT aims to strengthen collaboration and consensus and drive progress in the breast cancer continuum. Through strategic partnerships, the ACS NBCRT is dedicated to eliminating disparities and reducing mortality rates. The first goal listed under the Risk Assessment priorities is for every person to be assessed for risk and receive timely and appropriate risk-based screening and risk reduction options. *Strategies include improving access to genetic testing and counseling services for individuals with a family history of cancer-related risk factors, by identifying family members of individuals with known or suspected hereditary cancer history so they can be offered genetic testing as part of risk assessment actions.* It has been an honor to collaborate with leading oncologists/researchers as well as leaders from numerous patient advocacy organizations in the creation of the plan. Prostate Cancer Alert: Addressing the Disparities in the Black Community Did you know? Black men face a 65% higher incidence rate of prostate cancer compared to White men and are 2-4 times more likely to die from the disease. This stark disparity calls for urgent attention and action. Rising Incidence: Prostate cancer cases have been increasing by 3% annually from 2014-2019, reversing two decades of decline. Advanced-stage diagnoses are becoming more common, making treatment challenging. Underrepresented in Trials: Black men are significantly underrepresented in clinical trials, limiting the development of effective treatments tailored for them. The Prostate Health Education Network (PHEN) is focused on increasing Participation in Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials to Save Lives. Higher Mortality: The death rate for prostate cancer in Black men is more than double that of any other racial/ethnic group. 🌟 Improving Lung Cancer Care for Black Men Starts with Access to Clinical Trials 🌟 Black men are disproportionately affected by lung cancer but are underrepresented in clinical trials for new treatments by as much as 68%! Research continues to explore targeted therapies, genetic testing, and personalized treatment options for ovarian cancer patients. Today, we honor the scientists and healthcare professionals dedicated to improving ovarian cancer outcomes. By raising awareness, we empower women to be informed about symptoms and risk factors. World Ovarian Cancer Awareness Day is a call to action for increased funding and research efforts. Together, we can build a future where ovarian cancer is preventable, treatable, and ultimately, beatable. 🌎 On World Lung Cancer Day, we want to celebrate the incredible global lung cancer social media community, who offer support, education, advocacy and even improve treatment outcomes (for example by increasing lung cancer screening awareness).   Over the last year this conversation has been as interesting as ever, and we wanted to share a few insights of some of the most engaged topics in the last 12 months by people most impacted by lung cancer, and healthcare professionals.   This has included the burden on caregivers, misconceptions about smoking and lung cancer and the role of AI in early-stage lung cancer diagnosis.   Our online data analysis system Trivium3 brings together multiple data sources for social media, search, and publication analysis, to give deep insight into any therapy area and brand, supporting more impactful and successful communications to any stakeholder group.    #WLCD24 #WorldLungCancerDay #lungcancer #lcsm #pharma #AI #data #medcomms
