Street children are one of the most vulnerable and misunderstood groups in society. Despite their visible presence in many communities, there is a significant amount of misinformation and misconceptions about their lives and circumstances. This misinformation often leads to stigmatisation and neglect, which further worsens their plight. One common misconception is that street children are uneducated and uninterested in learning. The reality is that many of these children have a strong desire to attend school and pursue an education. Unfortunately, they face significant barriers, including lack of access to schools, financial constraints, and the necessity to work for survival. To truly support street children, we must first set aside these misconceptions and approach the issue with empathy and understanding. Recognizing the reality of their situations allows us to provide more effective and meaningful assistance such as access to education. Providing access to food, education and learning resources is essential. Initiatives such as mobile schools, scholarships, and after-school programs can make a significant difference in the lives of street children. By setting the record straight and addressing the root causes of their circumstances, we can work towards creating a world where no child has to live on the streets. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that these children have the opportunity to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
