Happy Monday 🫶🏻 Entrepreneurs I wanted to take some time and thank Houston Minority Supplier Diveristy Council HMSDC for asking me to be a part of their 1st MBE Pitch Contest. All of the participants did a wonderful job and I met some great people representing great financial institutions here in Houston. Key Takeaways 1. Practice your pitch! Say it to yourself, your friends your family and audience of strangers. Practice makes perfect and it never hurts to seek out some criticism. 2. Practice your ask! I can’t tell you how important it is as a small business owner to know what your needs are and to express them. As the lender we can’t make that decision for you we can only ask you pointed questions you help guide you to the answer. 3. Through my lead system, a customer texted that he was looking for some vehicle graphics. I ask him what kind of business he is in and he says contracting but in parenthesis he wrote 'small'. 😠 6.5% of the people in this country classify themselves as entrepreneurs or business owners. That's one out of every 13, one out of every 13 people had the balls to stand up and say, 'I'm doing this on my own'. Do not diminish yourself by saying small, because you feel as though you are less than everybody else because you're a one man operation or a two man operation. Do not diminish what you've done. You're one out of 13 people who are the balls to stand up and do it. ✅ Be proud of it.
