We need to reform the Canadian economy in order to grow more Canadian food and agricultural products in order for Canada to become a self-sufficient country in Food and Agricultural Products, increasing the production of Canadian Oil 🛢 and Natural Gas ⛽️ in order for Canada to become a self-sufficient country in Energy, increasing our manufacturing production in order for Canada to become a self-sufficient country in manufacturing products & Goods and export Canadian made products to many countries worldwide 🌐. 💙 💙 💙

In January 1776, a 47-page pamphlet, published in Philadelphia by newly-arrived immigrant Thomas Paine. Paine rejected the idea that any man could be born to rule others, and he ridiculed the idea that an island should try to govern a continent. “Where…is the King of America?” Paine asked in Common Sense. “I’ll tell you Friend…so far as we approve of monarchy…in America THE LAW IS KING. For as in absolute governments the King is law, so in free countries the law ought to be King; and there ought to be no other. The Second Day of July 1776 will be the most memorable Epoch in the History of America,” Massachusetts delegate John Adams said on July 3. The Second Continental Congress passed a “Resolution for Independence” declaring “That these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States, that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain is, and ought to be, totally dissolved.” While we celebrate the signing of the final form of the declaration two days later, the adoption of the  Resolution marked the delegates’ ultimate conviction that a nation should rest not on the arbitrary rule of a single man and his hand-picked advisors, but on the rule of law. Excellent analysis of the challenges for downtown D.C. as it adjusts to an emptying urban core. "In the era of remote work, a more apt metric of employment is “job activity,” which adjusts employment figures to account for where the work takes place.  Measured this way, employment in the region has become increasingly sprawled, with an emptying core (the District) and swelling donut (suburbia and exurbia). For example, the District’s share of workers in business and financial occupations in the metro region declined from 30 percent in 2019 to 21 percent post-pandemic. Prior to the pandemic, 54 percent of the region’s lawyers worked in D.C. Post pandemic, that share is 37 percent. Importantly, service sector jobs have followed remote workers, reducing the District’s share in employment in arts, entertainment, media, food prep and service, and personal care and service occupations." On transitional justice In today's excellent and insightful seminar presented by Caitlin Reiger on transitional justice, my questions were: 1) Can transitional justice be successful if it is designed and implemented by the government accused of the mass crimes that necessitated the adoption of transitional justice? and 2) Can economic and environmental justice be part of transitional justice? On the first, she raised the problems of transitional justice, with the government being the designer and guardian of the process. On the second question, she gave examples of success stories for including economic justice as part of transitional justice.
