Funders' Committee For Civic Participation’s Post

Register for FCCP's April 1st Census Day Celebration Virtual Event: https://lnkd.in/gifN_Cnn On April 1st, attendees will now also hear from Detroit's Mayor Mike Duggan at FCCP's April 1st Census Day virtual program. Please join us to hear him share remarks! Born in Detroit, MI, Mayor Duggan has spent his entire career working in the city to solve some of the most complex issues facing Detroiters, including the City's census undercounts. Majority-Black Detroit was the largest U.S. city to dispute its 2020 census count, following a national head count in which the U.S. Census Bureau acknowledged that a higher percentage of African Americans were undercounted than last decade. Detroit has faced challenges in achieving an accurate count of its Black residents, among other populations, for decades. As we prepare for the next decennial Census, Mayor Duggan will reflect on these challenges and the critical work ahead to ensure a fair and accurate count for 2030 and beyond.  Join FCCP's virtual event in recognition of Census Day on April 1st, 2024 from 4-5:15 PM ET! Come join us for this Census Day celebration! As you all know, April 1st is Census Day in the years ending in “0,” and FCCP would like to celebrate the importance of the census and the community we continue to build for a fair and accurate census every decade. Come learn more about the Funders’ Committee Census Initiative (FCCI) and hear from guest speakers, including CEO of Philanthropy Southwest Tony J. Fundaro, David Martinez III of Vitalyst Health and Sol Marie Alfonso Jones of Long Island Community Foundation, on how census information and data are used throughout the decade and the importance of planning for the 2030 Census now. You can register here for our virtual program: https://lnkd.in/gifN_Cnn Please also join us on social media on April 1st using the shared hashtag #CountUsIn to celebrate Census Day and the work being done to ensure a fair and accurate count for 2030 and beyond! Be sure to tag us on X at @FCCPTweets, as well as on LinkedIn at The Funders' Committee for Civic Participation.
