Wrexham's Tŷ Nos homeless development project reached a significant milestone as air and thermal testing for the final six apartments was conducted, yielding outstanding results. The independent inspection, carried out by Air Testing Ltd, reaffirmed the exceptional quality of the construction and its adherence to stringent standards. The 19, single occupancy apartments and office for support workers, have been carefully constructed at our award-winning Creating Enterprise Modular Solutions (CEMS) factory in Rhyl, to #Passivhaus standards for ClwydAlyn housing association. This method means that they save up to 90% on fuel costs as well as offering a far more flexible method of constructing homes. A joint venture between Wrexham County Borough Council, ClwydAlyn and Gareth Morris Construction, the apartments will go some way in countering homelessness in the area. The assessment confirmed that all six apartments comfortably surpassed the air tightness requirements set by the 'passive principles standard,' which itself is well under the minimum building regulations. Additionally, the thermal insulation in these units was rigorously inspected and approved, ensuring that the apartments meet the highest efficiency standards. Matthew Moore, the inspector from Air Testing Ltd, expressed his admiration for the work of Creating Enterprise. He commented, "The quality of work Creating Enterprise produces is excellent, and they consistently achieve great air tightness results." While Creating Enterprise's work at Tŷ Nos is now largely complete, the commitment to the project doesn't end there. The organization will continue to support Gareth Morris Construction as they transition these passive structures into finished, comfortable homes for the homeless. This ongoing partnership underscores the broader mission of Tŷ Nos, which is not only to provide shelter but to offer a dignified and sustainable living environment for those in need. Tŷ Nos's success in air and thermal testing is a testament to the commitment to excellence and innovation in addressing homelessness, creating a positive impact on the community and those it serves. 2 affordable housing developments for seniors are underway in Glendale! 🏠 Adobe Communities is converting the former Harrower building into 40 homes for older adults that’ll have on-site services and amenities. Plus, it’s expected that the building will qualify for the National Register of Historic Places following the completion of the adaptive reuse and restoration! 🏠 The Citrus Crossing apartments will feature 127 senior apartments, reserved for households earning between 30 and 70 percent of the area median income level. Both projects are slated for completion in 2024 🎉 Older adult homelessness is both urgent and solvable — and it’s a matter of life and death. I think combining services with people that need said services is extremely important. Mixed use areas can be of benefit as multiple groups of people can utilize the space and get access to services they may not normally have access to. Affordable housing has been a popular topic as of late. I think it is important for people to be able to afford their housing as well as other necessities of life. It is crucial that people have services that help them maintain housing and prevent homelessness.

Construction begins on Harrington Heights, a 270-Unit Affordable Housing Project in East Village. We've officially broken ground and are ready to go! Developed by Chelsea Investment Corporation near the intersection of Broadway and 13th Street, Harrington Heights will remain affordable for 55 years for households with income up to 50% of the Area Median Income. Some units will serve San Diegans with lower incomes, including individuals earning about $24,000 a year or less, according to the SDHC. “As mayor, I’ve been working to make needed game-changing reforms to our city policies to increase the amount of housing that San Diegans can afford,” Mayor Todd Gloria said in a statement read at the groundbreaking. “In partnership, it’s the home builders who put hammer to nail and do the work on the ground to create the homes that bring stability to people’s lives.” SDHC awarded 115 rental housing vouchers to help Harrington Heights residents pay their rent. Of those, 75 will assist people experiencing homelessness, including 10 set aside specifically for veterans experiencing homelessness.
