Head of Audience Strategy & Insights at New York Times Advertising

A few weeks ago, I was given a New York Times Publisher’s Award for leadership, one of the most meaningful instances of individual recognition I’ve ever received. As a public school kid from rural Ohio who still experiences bouts of imposter syndrome, it’s hard to explain just what this means to me. I am always honored and often a little awed representing this institution and everything it stands for, most especially the commitment to following the truth without fear or favor. To be a small part of supporting that mission is something more than a job and something I hold very dear. A career is a strange thing - it’s a long and winding road with many ups and downs, and I’ve learned over time to relish the truly special moments. Thank you to Laura Sonnenfeld, Joy Robins & everyone who had a hand in making this happen and thanks to all of my insanely talented The New York Times & New York Times Advertising colleagues past & present for your work & the leadership you demonstrate every day. It’s truly an honor to be among you and I will treasure this for a long, long time.

Congrats, Gabe! What part of Ohio??

Careers are indeed strange things, but it turns out that they exist in the context of a much larger journey and for those of us that have known you since before you had a career, it hardly comes as a surprise that you've navigated the path to this point. It turns out that humility, being a good person, and establishing meaningful and durable relationships across a broad spectrum of types of people actually makes the whole career thing not just pretty easy, but enjoyable. Congratulations on a little recognition along the way!
