My mentor recently told me that there are so many sources of knowledge in the world, yet people find it hard to tap the right resources. They jump too often! While juggling my classes, co-curricular activities, research, and internship, I found the articles from Investopedia, the 'right-sized' dose I need for my journey in #finance. Youtubers have different ways; some go too deep, some stay too shallow, and some do not cover everything. Textbooks, though the gold standard, are challenging to refer. IP, is a boon. Over the past few days, I've had the chance to watch and listen to some of the highlights from the 10th annual FoolFest from The Motley Fool It was a full-circle moment, considering that just over 10 years ago, I was a college student searching for summer internships and came across this quirky company with jester hats in Alexandria, VA. I decided not to apply due to the daunting Northern VA traffic and chose another internship instead. Despite that decision, I started following The Motley Fool after college, which led me to listen to their podcasts, track, and invest in their recs. I read Morgan Housel’s book, The Psychology of Money and remembered his insightful contributions while at The Motley Fool. I recall my first time having Cava first came on the scene in Northern VA, back in 2016. I thought, I wish this company was public so I could buy shares, seeing its potential as the new Mediterranean Chipotle. Yesterday, it was thrilling to hear from Cava's CEO at FoolFest, especially after reading Know What Matters by Ron Shaich, the former CEO of Panera who’s now on Cava’s board. One of my favorite take aways was the "CEO Draft" where the analsysts drafted top CEO's from rule breaking type companies, some of which have been 10+ baggers since they recommended them at the first FoolFest. This goes back to the simple principles of invest in best of breed companies who have best of breed executives at the helm steering the ship. Listening to some of the executives and analysts at FoolFest, I gathered several key takeaways: 1. Company Recommendations and Projections: It was fascinating to hear about the companies they recommend and what they project for the future. 2. AI Integration: Setting yourself up for success involves understanding how AI will be integrated into every market segment, not just the top Magnificent 7 names. 3. Investment Strategies: The importance of diversification and continuous learning can’t be overstated. Watching the highlights from FoolFest reinforced the value of staying informed and adaptable in the ever-evolving world of finance and investing. 🌟 Excited to share my recent experience at YourStory Media 's Techsparks 24 event where I had the privilege to hear Ankur Warikoo 's insights on personal finance! Despite the room being filled with top-notch professionals and industry leaders, it was surprising to see the puzzled looks when Ankur delved into the topic. Only about 20% of the audience raised their hands when asked about investing in mutual funds. 📈 This instantly took me back to my first internship at a share broker office when I was 18, driven by my father's insistence on financial independence. Those three months completely reshaped my perspective on money, debunking the misconceptions I had been taught. I quickly absorbed the wealth management practices observed at the brokerage firm, molding my financial habits right from the start of my career. 💡Here are three invaluable lessons learned that traditional education never imparted: 1️⃣ Continuous Learning: Making it a priority to continually educate myself about personal finance and investment strategies. 2️⃣ Regular Saving and Investing: Developing the habit of consistently saving and investing a portion of my income to build wealth over time. 3️⃣ Diversifying Investments: Understanding the importance of risk management, I diversified my investment portfolio to optimize returns and mitigate risks.
