I saw this clip this week on social media. My first taste of punditry 22 years ago for the World Cup for ITV 2002. I broke my foot only four weeks before and out of some bad news something good happened, ITV asked me to be a pundit for them on the England games. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but wow, what a studio. An icon of presenting in Des Lynam and two of England’s managing greats in Sir Bobby Robson and Terry Venables alongside one of England’s greatest ever players and characters in Paul Gascoigne. The clip brought a big smile to my face, not only because we scored and I’d forgotten that I broke my foot but my first experience of trying punditry was a pretty special one. I’m in the studio tonight for the England game and can’t wait. Come on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Imagine watching an England game in a major tournament with El Tel, Sir Bobby, and Gazza.

Can we give you a tip - DON’T Write your ‘About’ profile as though it’s someone else writing about you and then post your own content alongside it - just interested - WHY did you expose yourself to the world by making that pro Labour/Starmer political broadcast? Whoever advises you … ditch them! Celebs should avoid tagging themselves to politicians because it forces people who only viewed you in a sporting sense to now realise that you’re likely diametrically opposed to their political views and now every time your name is mentioned, the hackles go up and your once historic position in sporting life is set aside by negative thoughts 💭 not certain how you come back from that. What if labour don’t get the majority they thought 🤔 they were going to get - it still has a negative outcome - postal votes have seen many labour voters not voting labour.

Bobby Robson's emotions, feelings & love of both England & the game itself never left him. Thanks for sharing this special moment with us all Gary. He was indeed a one off. Let's hope both Terry & Bobby's passions rub off on those 11 shirts playing tonight, as well as G. S. Thanks again for the memory Come on England ⚽

Let's nor forget you have not mentioned one word about Palestine yet you seem to have a view about everything else in politics. Arrogant enough to say you were going to Qatar and work on BeIn sports to impact change. Impact change on your Labour party by condemning genocide

Some of my very favourite people all in one TV studio- and two of them so sadly no longer with us. I am almost tempted towards that old cliche- which I dislike so much - they don’t make em like they used to. But thank you Gary for such a memory . DD

Love Bobby Robson, met him on a flight to Antigua once I asked the flight manager if I could be in the cockpit for landing? She said sorry Mr Robson has bagged that Upon landing he appeared from the cockpit and said “not bad for my first landing” Very funny man 🤣🤣
