I saw this on Twitter/X from Dr. Anton Chuvakin and thought I'd move the discussion here: From Dr. Chuvakin: ___ CISO: "Too many vendors/tools, can we please have consolidation!!" Same CISO: "What is the complex, unusable platform that claims to do everything and fails to most tasks?!" <goes and buys narrow focused tools> Sorry, people, security consolidation is B.S. Not a thing. ___ I agree. Security consolidation cannot happen until security teams understand and manage by the ROI of their tool investments. Narrow, simple stories for point solutions win out today, as they are easy to explain and get approved. However, simple stories do not equate to value. Until security teams can efficiently understand and manage by the value delivered by each tool in their stack, consolidation is stunted. Great story tellers will always trump great products unless the value is understood. #cybersecurity #securitytools #ROI #unifiedsecurityposturemanagement
