Proud to be apart of Carel du Toit Center, who presented in Parliament today on the Power of Speech, highlighting why early intervention is so important, especially with regard to children with profound hearing loss. In many public and private hospitals, it is not mandatory for new borns to receive hearing tests. This results in children with profound hearing loss not receiving early intervention with social workers, occupational therapists, speech therapists and audiologists, which results in the inability for language acquisition. Ensuring adequate implementation of this service will change the lives of many children living in South Africa. “Get it done by 1”
