💡 Short, asymptomatic episodes of AF are associated with increased risk of stroke. But prescribing oral anti-coagulants to these patients is of uncertain benefit. 🪄 ARTESIA trial enrolled 4000 patients with subclinical AF, randomized them to Apixaban or ASA and compared efficacy and safety outcomes. 🧠 Apixaban group had a 37% reduction in stroke incidence. 🩸 Rates of non-fatal major bleeding increased by 80% in Apixaban group. 🤔 The debate, regarding risks and benefits of OACs in subclinical AF is still ongoing. https://lnkd.in/dfQ2ntdd

For a first of its kind, ImproveCareNow has three abstracts accepted for poster presentation at the upcoming European Crohn's & Colitis Organization's 19th Congress. These posters represent a paradigm shifting study-REALITI study- where we are using real world data to supplement regulatory application for new biologic approval, thereby shaving off years from the approval cycle. If successful, this will benefit thousands of pediatric IBD patients who otherwise will not be able to access newer therapies already being used in adult IBD care.
