This month is not only for reflecting on the rich history and achievements of Black Americans but also serves as a reminder to acknowledge and address the unique challenges the Black community faces. Here are some eye-opening statistics that underscore the importance of fostering equitable social care. Let's use this month not only to reflect on the rich history and achievements of Black Americans but also to advocate for a future where social care is truly equitable. This is not a training to address stereotypes, bias and discrimination for people that have black colored hair. 🤦🏽♀️ The term “black hair” does not refer simply to hair color. It relates to styles, textures and/or the natural methods of hair care for people of African American, Caribbean or “Black” decent. In my experience a black person with curls, coils or locs (not dreads), braids or an Afro is perceived differently (even subconsciously) in most corporate environments than other races wearing their natural textures. #deileaders #deib #inclusiveleadership

As we celebrate Juneteenth, we must also acknowledge the invisible chains that still bind our country due to systemic racism. The legacy of slavery continues to impact the lives of Black Americans today, from disproportionately high rates of incarceration to limited access to quality education and opportunities. We must all commit to being actively anti-racist and dismantling the systems that uphold white supremacy. This means advocating for policies that promote equity and justice, supporting Black-owned businesses, and amplifying the voices of marginalized communities. As a professional in the corporate world, I recognize the importance of creating inclusive workplaces where all employees feel seen, heard, and valued. We must actively work to dismantle the barriers that prevent Black professionals from advancing in their careers and ensure that everyone has access to the same opportunities for success. Let us use this day of celebration as a reminder of the work that still needs to be done to create a truly equal and just society. We must continue to educate others, have difficult conversations, and take action.

Recognizing the Power of Black Legacy! I'm sure by now you've heard about LeBron James and his son, Bronny, playing together for the Lakers next year. Amidst the excitement, there has been criticism suggesting that LeBron is unfairly using his influence to boost his son's career. This scrutiny is a stark reminder of the systemic racism that pervades our society. Let's be clear — favoritism, cronyism, and nepotism have long been tools used by white families to ensure generational wealth remains within their bloodlines, often at the expense of Black families. A study by the Economic Policy Institute highlights how these practices have entrenched economic disparities, with white families benefiting from historical advantages that facilitate wealth transfer and opportunity hoarding across generations. When Black individuals like LeBron James, Deion Sanders, and LaVar Ball leverage their hard-earned influence to uplift their children, they face undue criticism. This double standard underscores the bias that seeks to maintain the status quo and limit the progress of Black families. We should celebrate and support these Black fathers for using their platforms to create opportunities for their children. Their efforts are essential in breaking the cycle of economic inequality and building a legacy of Black excellence and generational wealth. Let's encourage and empower our community to continue these efforts. It's our duty to create and seize opportunities that set our children up for success.
