Artificial intelligence will touch every industry as we know it, and its potential impacts in healthcare are enormous. In a compelling SXSW dialogue alongside Katie Couric and other influential leaders, my Medtronic colleagues Ken Washington, PhD and Austin Lee Chiang, MD MPH discussed the role that technology plays in combatting colorectal cancer – a fitting topic during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. As Ken shared, AI in the hands of highly trained physicians can augment doctors’ capabilities and drive positive outcomes for patients, as well as drive equity in access to care. Our collaboration with Katie has grown out of a shared passion for healthcare innovation, and I’m grateful for her enthusiasm and advocacy for CRC screening. It’s not just about innovation – it's about ensuring that vital healthcare advancements reach those who need them most. Thank you to Raj Thomas, Torod B. Neptune and the many others who supported this important conversation. Together, we're turning the tide against colorectal cancer and shaping a healthier future for all. #SXSW #HealthcareInnovation
This was such a wonderful experience, thank you for the opportunity to collaborate with everyone on the panel, especially Katie Couric, who has been such a huge supporter of colonoscopies, GI, and health awareness in general. 🙏
Excellent points here – AI is coming and will impact us all. This makes it critically important that we learn how we can leverage this tech to improve human health outcomes.
