More than 1 in 5 Americans will be 65 or older by 2040, the Department of Health and Human Services projects. And more than 56% of those turning 65 will need some sort of long-term service. The aging population will significantly impact society, affecting economic growth, work and retirement patterns, family functions, and healthcare systems. It will also increase the prevalence of chronic diseases and the need for long-term services.
