Just attended the Neil Diamond show by Mzansi Ballet GM at Theatre on the Bay and it was an incredible experience! The blend of ballet and Neil Diamond's timeless music created a unique and captivating atmosphere. The dancers brought such emotion and energy to the stage, making each piece a beautiful tribute to his legendary career. Using social media in schools can be a powerful tool for promoting events with posters and graphics, but in my personal view it is crucial to avoid featuring children in posts. Videos and images can be easily manipulated, overlayed and reshared and often out of context, posing significant privacy and security risks. By using these platforms, schools not only validate them but also inadvertently encourage students and families to use them. Do you have an opinion, please provide yours or feel free to comment.

I had the privilege of attending a transformative two-day workshop with our Marine & Industrial team at the V&A Waterfront. This event was more than just a gathering; it was a pivotal moment in shaping this department’s strategy and vision for the future. However, we also delved deep into the role of events in utilizing marine spaces effectively and hence my attendance. However, the discussions went beyond logistics, focusing on the broader impact on the ocean economy. Events and film have the potential to significantly shape and boost the ocean economy, creating new opportunities and driving growth. Sharing the events strategy to this team was a crucial step. It allowed us to showcase our strengths and align our goals with the department’s vision. Further along, listening to industry experts on Cruising, Super Yachts, and the Marine industry provided invaluable insights. These sessions are instrumental in our future planning, helping us understand the trends and challenges in the marine sector. Stepping out of my comfort zone to be in front of the camera is always daunting, but it’s becoming easier and totally worth it when I get to share something I’m passionate about. The Ocean Economy at the V&A Waterfront is thriving, yet we have merely scratched the surface. A significant part of this growth is driven by ocean-related events. These events bring together tourism and the marine sector, creating a dynamic synergy. Our long-standing relationship with the Cape Town Boat Show, now known as Boatica Cape Town, is evolving. What a beautiful evening at Kennilworth Race Course, celebrating the 20-year anniversary of Evsol Specialised Services. It felt like a reunion of sorts, surrounded by old friends and colleagues, reminding us just how small the events industry truly is. Recently, my 11-year-old daughter came home from school, and as all kids her age do, she found common ground with her friends. That day’s hot topic was “their business” – one friend was selling this, another was selling that. But my daughter had a different idea. She wanted to try her hand in front of the camera. I told her that’s a huge commitment and suggested she test the waters first. Without missing a beat, she sent a charming email to our brand manager at the V&A, asking if there were any upcoming photoshoots she could join. Fast forward a few weeks and several giggles later, she got the call. But she quickly declared, “I’m not doing it alone!” So, it turned into a family affair. This weekend, her picture – well, the entire family’s – was supersized onto the hoarding in the mall where they’re upgrading an area of Vic Wharf.
