Georgia Rental Home Council’s Post

📢 Important Update for Georgia Rental Home Owners and Residents We are thrilled to announce that Governor Kemp has signed HB1017, the "Georgia Squatter Reform Act," into law. This pivotal legislation aims to reform resident rights and address trespasser issues, enhancing protections for property owners across our state. Key Highlights of the Georgia Squatter Reform Act: • Defines and criminalizes “unlawful squatting” • Requires occupant to provide proof/documentation of right to occupy home within three days of receiving a citation from law enforcement • If occupant cannot provide proof/documentation then they will be subject to arrest • If proof/documentation is provided then the claim will be referred to a magistrate court within 7 days See more here: https://lnkd.in/eMx4CWG8 As members of the Georgia Rental Home Council, it is crucial for us to understand and adapt to these changes. We encourage all members to familiarize themselves with the new procedures to ensure compliance and protect your properties. Let's continue to work together toward a secure and efficient rental housing market in Georgia. #GARHC #NRHC #SFR #BTR
