2023 Yangtze Culture Forum - Nanjing, China 24/25 November 2023 Rivers gave birth to cities and are the source of human civilization. With the deepening of industrialization, global climate change, environmental pollution, loss of biodiversity and destruction of cultural heritage in waterfront spaces have brought new challenges to the development of civilization. The relationship between human beings, cities and rivers has become a global common issue. Under the theme of "Flowing Rivers, Converging Future", the Forum will focus on promoting the common values of all mankind, discussing the opportunities and challenges facing river culture, ecology and economy as well as the sustainable development of rivers, building a network of dialogue and cooperation among the world's river civilization, enhancing exchanges and mutual understanding of river basins and promoting the construction of a community of shared future for mankind. #rivers #yangtze #culture #forum #unesco #nanjing

The results of my research have just appeared about #urbangrowth and it morphological patterns of 12 Hungarian towns. It is quite obvius, that agricultural surfaces are the loosers of urban sprawl, but the green infrastructure is also shrinking from 1990. The study offers a spatial overview of the towns as well, here is the example of Debrecen. https://lnkd.in/dPQZzjcY #urban #greeninfrastructure #urbanmorphology #urbansprawl #Corine #urbanplanning #sustainabledevelopment #Hungary #Bekescsaba #Dunaujvaros #Debrecen #Kaposvar #Sopron #Székesfehérvár #Tatabanya #Veszprem #Szolnok #Szeged #Nyiregyhaza #Kecskemet

If we lose our beloved heritage sites, we lose a piece of us. A part of our heritage and cultural identity. Sea-level rise is threatening Easter Island, located in the Pacific Ocean, 3,700 kilometers from the coast of continental Chile. Increasingly stronger waves are eroding the Moai, the island’s iconic colossal statues that represent ancestors, as well as the platforms on which they stand.... #traceability #climatefinance #financeinnovation #moai #rapanui #easterisland #coaching #chiefsustainabilityofficer #sustainability #esgconsulting #esgreporting #sustainablebusiness #sustainablearchitecture #successmindset

In the past 3 days, I’ve visited a number of World Heritage Sites in Turkey, including: - The ruins of the oldest city in the world, Çatalhöyük (hint: streets hadn’t been invented yet); - A three-adjoining-valleys cave village, Zelve, where a monastery and a mosque sat across from each other and living in peace for centuries; - Two of the “underground cities” in the Cappadocia region. I learned about the strength of human ingenuity in meeting the urban needs of the times, early feats of engineering, stories of resilience and the human spirit. Sadly, much of this heritage is being lost due to erosion, accelerated through the pace of climate change. Still, so much learning and inspiration. #cityplanning #urbanplanning #urbandesign #plangirltravels #TravellingUrbanEnthusiasts #travellingplanners #learningbyseeing

Very interesting read. So much potential yet to be discovered. Wonder if this article will lead to more interest by the authorities and hopefully will not be politicised. There is the suggestion of commercialisation viz archeotourism as well but that’s another story. No matter how long it takes, smart investors are needed to ensure commercialisation stays within ESG bounds. Above all, this significant piece of history will hopefully remain intact for the good of Malaysia and the planet. https://lnkd.in/gymcfRR7
