"We don't have time to beat around the bush" Let me set the stage: I got a connection request that was quite flattering (flattery will get you everywhere - kidding). They did their research on me, what I do, and my humor! YES!!!!!! But immediately after, the rep out-talked themselves, and after one question, took a left turn. ⬅️ They started by asking me how I envisioned technology shaping the future of sales training. Intrigued, I almost answered...I have lots to say about that. UNTIL - they followed it with four paragraphs about how my insights will help shape their tool and do I want to synergize with the founder to brainstorm because yadda yadda yadda their tool is so great and here are all the bells and whistles of the tool. I declined and received... 3 more paragraphs about reconsidering - that their tool helps with ai training - taking the need out of having a live lecturer, reducing budgets and logistics and costs and access to leads, etc. I went into coaching mode - MY BIZ IS BASED ON LIVE TRAINING! You are talking in circles that do not touch on the problems I have at the moment because you are so caught up in YOUR PRODUCT. The rep ended by telling me that while he appreciated all of that, as a start up - they do not have time to beat around the bush. Want to avoid product pitching? ✅Get clear on the problems you solve. ✅Ask one question ✅STOP and wait for a response from your prospect. ✅Repeat. It's a conversation, not a product dump where buyers tune out. #Salesfam - you do have time to beat around the bush. Beat it.

Today I had an insightful call with a potential prospect and here is what we found out. Currently, they taking big steps to elevate their business! And just hired a new business coach to streamline their processes and boost efficiency. I advised them to focus on stabilizing their business processes first.
