The #Celery Test
What’s good for your competition is not good for you and vice-versa. But how do you know what is good for you and what isn’t?
Imagine if people told you that to grow you need cookies, Nutella, celery, fruits and ice cream. Should you get them all? No, because it’s time-consuming, expensive and scatterbrained. What you do is to filter everything through your “Why.” So, if your “Why” is to lead a healthy lifestyle, you’d probably pick only the fruits and/or the celery.
When you filter your decisions through your “Why” you save money, time and, most importantly, you stay true to your cause.

Understanding MSG and Headaches Through the Lens of Redox Signaling
Today, I want to share a personal story and some insights about a topic that’s close to home: headaches, especially those triggered by MSG (monosodium glutamate).
My Experience
Recently, after eating food delivered via Grab in Jakarta every dinner for 13 days, I experienced food triggered headaches.
This got me thinking about what might be triggering these headache and led me to explore the science behind it.
What is MSG?
MSG is a flavor enhancer often added to processed foods to boost taste. While it’s generally recognized as safe, some people, like me, experience adverse effects like headaches after consuming it.
Why Does MSG Cause Headaches?
Excitotoxicity: MSG can overstimulate neurons, leading to a condition called excitotoxicity. This excessive stimulation can damage neurons and potentially trigger headaches as the brain reacts to this damage.
Oxidative Stress: Consuming MSG can increase oxidative stress in the brain. Oxidative stress happens when there’s an imbalance between harmful free radicals and the antioxidants that neutralize them. This imbalance can cause inflammation and headaches.
Enter Redox Signaling
Redox signaling is a process where cells communicate using redox reactions (think of it as the balance between oxidation and reduction). This is crucial for maintaining cellular health, defending against oxidative stress, and repairing damage.
Antioxidant Defense: Redox signaling helps regulate our body’s antioxidant defenses. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals, reducing oxidative stress and, potentially, those pesky headaches.
Cellular Repair and Regeneration: Redox signaling also promotes cellular repair and regeneration. Enhancing these processes helps the body address damage from oxidative stress more effectively.
Tips for Managing MSG-Induced Headaches
1. Dietary Choices: Identify and limit foods with MSG. Pay attention to labels and opt for fresh, unprocessed foods when possible.
2. Boost Antioxidants: Eat a diet rich in antioxidants—think colorful fruits and vegetables. These can help balance out oxidative stress.
3. Stay Hydrated: Hydration supports overall cellular function and can help maintain redox balance.
4. Consider Supplements: Certain stabilised redox signaling supplements boost body’s endogenous antioxidant activity. Explore [ https://lnkd.in/gffm_zFt ]. Good thing I can get this fix in Indonesia 🥳.
Understanding how MSG affects us through the lens of redox signaling gives us powerful tools to manage our health better. Let’s stay informed and take proactive steps to live healthier, headache-free lives!
Feel free to share your experiences or tips in the comments. Let’s learn and grow together!
Best,
Sadique
f you’ve ever yo-yo’d up and down with your weightloss goals this video is for you
Moving from ‘scale related’ wins to ‘non-scale’ related wins is your goal 🎯
When you’re stuck on scale related wins only you’re more likely to gain all the weight back.
You’re pressing the gas and the brake at the exact same time
When you move into non-scale related wins like better relationships, improved self-image, more abundance and success with your career etc, you’re on on the right track

PSA: The only person or company you should be measuring against is looking you right back in the mirror. 🪞
Been seeing a lot of posts about they are doing this or he or she is doing that. Good for them but don't focus on others, focus on yourself.
Good things happen I promise when you get better each day against yourself.
Excellent example for us here at IQBAR, we just got this great post by simply doing what we do and letting the results take care of themselves. https://lnkd.in/gWCmm5-R#keepgoing#cpgbrands#focusedonyou
