On Sundays like Super Bowl Sunday, my thoughts turn to the players and staff who wake up in the morning, anticipating the unfolding events over the next several hours that may shape their lives and careers. Will they bask in victory or endure a painful defeat?
Yes, inevitably, a team will lose today. One longview lesson from Super Bowl XXXVII is that success and failure are just moments in time. How these moments live in our memory and fuel our future is entirely within our control. And while the reflexive temptation to let one’s ego inflate or deflate is overwhelming, once the reflexive surge subsides, we can use the experience to correct or enhance our trajectory.
Football fans know that both teams will lose players and staff after today. Both will regroup, reset, and return next season to continue the climb. Indeed, in life, just as in sports, you win some and you lose some. Beyond the gridiron, “some” includes clients, accounts, employees, a test, or a promotion. It includes friends and relationships, too. Losses can be crushing, but to win, you have to try. And when you try, you risk losing some. So you must try again. Even though my team won XXXVII, I have lost elsewhere. Defeat is not final; it is simply part of the story.
Lots of times, the more significant the loss, the longer it takes to repair to try again. That’s normal - never cheat the grieving process. But also remember that trying again is steeped in the hope of a better or stronger ‘next time.’ Your momentary defeat will pave the way to future success, clarity, and, most importantly, a greater understanding of self and purpose. Win or lose, be the learner. You got this.

3moWhen are you guys gonna make a caffeine free energy drink? I'd like a synephrine/yohimbine mix in place of caffeine.
