Found this fantastic article from Meaghan Johnson that I just had to share – while it may be focused on the tech industry, the advice shared within applies to women everywhere, in every industry. “If you are convinced of your skills, choose your direction, leave doubts behind, and move towards your goal. International Women's Day was massively celebrated last month across the world. I personally came across a lot of great initiatives (Lectures, data sharing – most alarming ones - awareness campaigns, change management projects, etc.). There's one that personally stood out for me: “Honorary Campaign” to celebrate Inspirational Women Among Us, created by some colleagues from Women@TikTok METAP group 🌷 The idea was to nominate and share a brief explanation of how a WOMAN has INSPIRED you, highlighting achievements, challenges and qualities that make them stand out. What a beautiful way to make people stop, reflect, and pay attention to things that really matter to them! Observing people around us is powerful. This is not only because we learn. It helps us see things beyond the status quo and avoid bias. This is transformative. Feeling inspired is taking the learning to another level! Inspiration awakens us to new possibilities; it allows us to transcend our ordinary experiences and limitations. Inspiration propels a person from apathy to possibility and transforms the way we perceive our own capabilities. In this specific initiative, lot of women were nominated. This means that a lot of people STOPPED to REFLECT and acknowledge others. This is so powerful and I feel very honored to be part of the winning group announced last week 💛. I'm sharing this to reinforce a few things that I believe... including the power of bringing heart to the workplace. This initiave is a real example of #InspireInclusion (International Women's Day 2024 campaign theme). I will never forget it. Congratulations to not only the winners… but to all nominees, nominators and initiative leaders 🌷 Trophies change shelves. Empathy changes the world.

Last week in Berlin at BCB, we had a packed room at our seminar ‘Spotlight: Women in the Drinks Industry’. A panel discussion hosted by Eleni Nikoloulia On the panel, I was joined by Gina Barbachano from Hanky Panky and Margarita Sader from Paradiso. We discussed some of the challenges women are facing in the industry: mainly sexism and gender bias but also how we can overcome some of these challenges. We talked about the importance of creating safe work spaces, where your team members are heard. Cross-training is a great tool for this, making your team feel like they have the autonomy to understand all the roles within the business and feel empowered to handle a situation. We discussed the biggest barriers to entry for women in the hospitality industry: a lack of mentorship and networking opportunities. We spoke that we really need to create these opportunities for women to connect and collaborate (more on this later…) Ultimately we know when you feel empowered and confident, it’s where your potential truly unlocks and actions the path to success. So really, it’s about building that confidence for women in our industry, and I hope by having more of these discussions on these global forums we might see a shift change into more women in leadership. This year's theme, "Inspire Inclusion," reminds us of the importance of fostering a sense of belonging, empowerment, and relevance for women. The marketing scene in the U.S. embodies this spirit of inclusion, as women continue to make remarkable strides. We now account for 60% of the industry, according to LinkedIn, and are making significant headway in leadership roles. 😀 59% of manager-level positions are held by women, and over half of Chief Marketing Officers are women, marking a significant increase from 47% in 2019. This rise of women in marketing is not a matter of numbers; it represents a shift in power dynamics. We are breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and leading the charge in creating a more equitable and inclusive industry. We have an innate ability to understand consumer insights and transform them into compelling and meaningful campaigns that make a true impact and stand out. We're super proud of our own squad of marketing mavens StandOut Authority. They're the brains behind our best werk, blending creativity with savvy strategy to make magic happen. They are the epitome of International Women’s Day; we have team members all over the globe.  Joshua B. Lee and I are inspired by the energy and creativity they all bring to the table. They’re not just part of the team, but they are the heart of what makes us truly stand out. One of the best parts of #CES is always The Female Quotient Equality Lounge. It's a space where all the badass women get to connect and learn from each other.
