The effectiveness of the entire operation hinges on a strategic integration of methods, access points, and specialized equipment. While replacing bearings is a common bridge maintenance item, replacing some can be challenging and require some ingenuity both on the design side, as well as construction. Replacing bridge bearings is a complex and delicate operation that requires careful planning and execution. The specific method used will vary depending on the type of bridge, the type of bearings being replaced, and the specific conditions of the river. below is the perfect video illustration for the bearing replacement.

I'm excited to offer a glimpse into one of the most interesting structural models I've worked on as part of an Asset Integrity Evaluation project, where we had to assess multiple structures using Chilean and international standards (NCh, AISC, ACI, ISO, ASCE, BS EN). 🏗️This is the model of a tertiary crusher building. The analysis of this structure is particularly intriguing due to the quantity and variety of load types that may or may not act simultaneously on the structure, resulting in over 400 design combinations. Below are some of the loads evaluated: ▪️Structural and non-structural permanent loads. ▪️Variable loads on platforms and stairs. ▪️Loads from 5 Feed Hoppers for normal and maximum operation (Dead, Live, Material Pressure, and Impact). ▪️Loads from 5 Discharge Hopper Cars (Dead, Live, and Impact). ▪️Loads from 5 Feeders (Dead, Live, and Impact). ▪️Loads from 5 Feeder Discharge Chutes (Dead, Live, Material, and Impact). ▪️Loads from Conveyor Belts over Feed Hoppers (Belt Tension, Material, Dead, Live, Impact). ▪️Crane Bridge Loads (Dead, Live, Vertical, Lateral, and Longitudinal Impact). ▪️Tripper Car Loads over Feed Hoppers in multiple positions (Dead, Live, Material, Belt Tension, Impact). ▪️Monorail Loads (Dead, Live, Vertical, Lateral, and Longitudinal Impact). ▪️Horizontal and Vertical Seismic Loads for multiple mass cases according to equipment location and operating conditions. ▪️Wind Loads on structure in multiple directions. ▪️Loads in the event of Chute or Hopper Blockage. ▪️Loads in the event of Safety System Failures. ▪️Loads due to Temperature Variation. and more. Are we able to predict the ultimate lateral torsional buckling strength, for different positions of the applied loads at the cross section, using modified Cb coefficient? Yes. Based on extensive research performed by Helwig et al (1997), a modified expression for Cb can be used to estimate the effect of the load position. In represented equation: “y” is the location of the load relative to the midheight of the section. Negative values are adopted for loads above the midheight. Here's a word I don't use very often...Fluidise. 🏄♂️ If you're looking to speed up the efficiency of your projects on site when installing sheets, using an Excavator Mounted Vibrator (EMV) or Piling Hammer can be a great solution. Attached directly to the boom of the excavator via a quick hitch adapter the EMV drives and extracts trench sheets or sheet piles by vibrating the soil, which causes it to fluidise making it easier and faster to install the sheets. You can even pair the EMV with our vibration monitoring equipment so you can ensure protection from potential from structural damages.
