For those of you who can read Italian, I am pleased to share an article that I have written for Italy's most-read daily newspaper, "La Repubblica", featuring "The Real Price of Smart Working". It is a realistic analysis of the good, the bad, and the ugly of smart working, and the effects that such practice has had on our health and emotional well-being, as a result of a prolonged application and in the absence of a proper... "instruction manual". The article is linked to a Neuroeconomy study that I have recently conducted for the Saïd Business School of the University of Oxford. It is in part inspired by a strong and rather controversial statement recently made by five-time New York Times bestselling author Malcolm Gladwell on the "Diary of a CEO" podcast against the side effects of remote work and their repercussions on our happiness and sense of purpose. In my article, reference is also made to the founding father of Neuroeconomy, Paul J. Zak, while providing an overview of the interaction that our hormones play in determining our sense of purpose and belonging within an organisation. A special thank goes to Paola Iadeluca (Jadeluca) at La Repubblica. For almost thirty years, since 1993, in various phases of my life, Paola has written stories about me, helping me (and what I do) gain visibility through her prominent newspaper. Million thanks, Paola! #smartworking #remotework #happiness #wellbeing #hormones #oxytocin #dopamine #larepubblica
